Prologue: Once upon a Time

Prologue: “Tucked away in this putrid world is a civilization that predates all others. It was a well-kept secret, a place where those of us who had evolved beyond our primal instincts could live in animeunity.” Mulling these words over, I hold my little girl's hand. Without her, this world wouldn’t be. She looks up at me with her Mothers trademark eyes. “At the time, I was not aware that I was being recruited into a war. Into a world, I knew nothing about. My human world was simple, My family was all I knew but I had talent, I was a born warrior and Father convinced me to train and apply to be a personal guard for the King and Queen.” My thoughts drift back to the chaos, but I shake my head and continue. “Firstly, I had to find my way up the ranks but sure enough in less than a year, I was selected to protect the Queen and her children. That was until the unthinkable happened…” Wide eyes meet me, and I can't help but admire my perfect creation, My Daughter. “I will explain more about that, for now, my dear Hope, let me explain how I came to be. Modern-day Iran, this country has a wide and expansive history. Look around you, can you feel the power emanating from this ancient land?” Sweeping my hands out in front of me, I feel the power, where she will unlock everything she needs to save the world we know now, but she will need to know the history. “Yes Papa, I can feel it” A young Hope looks at me with admiration. My heart swells, so like her Mother, yet she looks exactly like me, her dark hair waving lazily in the desert winds. I hold her tight as I look at her Mother. “It is time Jasper, she needs to know, we need to open the portal and bring her back to the time before her birth, she needs to know what her purpose is.” My beautiful wife expresses this with a face of steel, yet her eyes always give her away. I sigh, squeezing both of their hands. “Does she need to see everything?” I ask in embarrassment, knowing full well she would be seeing me at my worst, seeing me in a way that I would never want my child to see me. Chuckling, my wife gently pushes my obsidian locks away from my eyes, the wind had ruined my usually meticulous appearance. “She won’t be seeing these events, my dear, she will only be a soul, inside me, but you will be transported back to fix the mistakes you made, remember to follow your voice, once we are there, we will be erased from this time period, all of us, we need to be careful. We need to stay on task.” My wife's eyes fill with worry, uncertainty and doubt. Was this wise? The world's collapse was imminent though. With all the random attacks and people disappearing we wouldn’t be able to sustain the paradise Raven had created. She had sacrificed everything and had possibly died for it all. No one had seen her since that day, we needed to go back and fix things, we needed to change our fates. I know when I was born but it predates all known texts and isn’t consistent with today's Gregorian calendar, here we go. Back to Mesopotamia… Back to challenge the outdated notions that supernatural creatures must only be mated to their own kind. To bring Octavious down, to find out where Eztli had been hiding all these years, biding her time, waiting to take everything from us. We thought with Octavious dead, that the war was over. The war never ended, it was only beginning… Hello my lovelies, due to ill health I won’t be able to complete this story at this time.
