CHAPTER 9 MICHAEL’S POV I got out of the car as I parked a few houses away from Henry’s home. If it’s true and he is on he’s driveway waiting for me, then it would be idiotic for me to show up there with my men. I gathered my men and we all started walking towards he’s house in a big group. I in-formed them the plan, that we were here to get Varela at all costs. Half of my men split and went the back way as some went and hid with there guns ready to kill. I, on the other hand walked in front of my men as we started walking on the driveway. “I didn’t think you’d be that stupid to come here, Michael.” Henry said with a smile, but I knew he had something planned, because if he didn’t he wouldn’t be smiling so calmly. “Well, you know me, I like to keep my word. Or there’s no point in talking, now is there.” I smiled back, but I knew at any moment something was going to happened. To my surprise I saw Varela walk beside her father, standing in a black body suit and a jacket, which only showed off her body. “Varela.” I said with a nod, but she didn’t acknowledge it. “Varela, it’s rude not to greet our guest. Michael has come all the way here to see you, love.” Those words, they were the only words that made me grit my teeth as I watch Varela cringe from it. I can tell she was forced into a betrothal with this prick, but soon she won’t be. Varela slowly lifted her gaze from the ground and met my eyes, but they weren’t as soft and gentle. She kept looking behind me, as if trying to make me move my attention to what was behind me. I gave her a questioning look as I looked behind me only to see 7 black SUVS pull up, no doubt Henry’s men. But when I looked back a gun was pointed at my forehead as Henry held it there tightly, which only made my men pull out their guns and point them at the enemy as well. “Do you really think you’ll beat me, Michael? Coming to my house trying to steal my fiancé?” He chuckled darkly as he pushed the gun forcefully on my forehead. I put my hands in surrender. “Father, stop.” Varela tried to calm him down but he only glared daggers her way, which made her look uncomfortable. Which made me want to kill this bastard for making her feel that way! “Father, please. Let it be, no one has to get hurt.” She tried to explain but he only shrugged her words off. “Now, I’ve been looking forward to this day since the moment I saw you lay eyes on my weapon.” Before he pulled the trigger Varela spoke up. “Then I apologise for what I am about to do, father.” She then swiftly grabbed the gun out of he’s hands as she stood beside me and pointed the gun at her father. “Leave, now. Tell your men to retreat.” She whispered to me, but I just looked at her in admiration that her words didn’t make register to me, I wasn’t focused. “Michael!” She whispered yelled at me, which caught my attention. “I can’t leave you, I came here for you.” She just smiled widely at my words, which only made my heart miss a beat. If that’s even possible. “You have to trust me, okay?” She then looked at me and gave me a warm smile, I only nodded as I turned my heel to leave. “Everyone it’s time to leave.” I yelled, as I started to walk away from this fight as my men followed behind like sheep. VARELA’S POV “What the f**k do you think you’re doing?!” Henry scolded me, but I shrugged it off. “Goodbye father.” Was the last words he heard as I shot him dead, he fell to the ground as he’s men started to surround me with guns. I glared at them as I shot a couple of men in the chest that dared to come near me. “I am you leader now! I am the heir!” I yelled as I watched these men form a circle around me. “This man!” I yelled as I pointed to my dead father, Henry. “He was nothing but a selfish man who pulled your strings and used you like puppets!” Most of the men glared at me in hatred for the lost of their leader, but others nodded in agreement at my words. “I, as your new leader order you to leave! You are free to choose how your life will turn out from this point! But for those of you who stay, I can’t promise you a long life!” The men started to talk among themselves as a few walked away with their freedom as some stayed behind. I only looked disappointed for the ones who stayed. “Who amongst yourselves wishes to kill me?” The men laughed as they got out their guns ready to aim for me. “So, be it.” I mumbled sadly as I grabbed a button from the inside of my jacket. “If you wish for my death, you’ll have to kill me in the mansion. That’s my only wish.” “b***h, we will honor your last wish, but we will kill you with hatred even you won’t be able to bare.” One of the men laughed but I only looked disappointed. Did they forget who I was? One of the 5 dangerous people in the world, but I fear they’ve forgotten after I killed Henry. “Thank you.” I smiled sadly as I walked into the house first. I turned around and saw about 100 men walk in ready to kill me. I looked at the man who spoke to me and smiled, he looked confused but then knew what was happening. He’s face morphed in panic. I hit the button in my hand as the lights went out, the men yelled in horror that they couldn’t see, fearing that I’d kill them out of nowhere. I was standing at the door as I then put the lights back on, they turned in my direction, but then looked in the center of the room. Seeing a bomb placed there. “Your fate has been sealed.” I said as I shut the door and slid a metal pole through it, locking the men in. I freed the innocent ones that wanted a new life and killed the ones who wanted to live the life of death. I ran out of the driveway before the bomb could explode, I ran all the way down the street, but then I felt the ground shake beneath my feet. I looked back only to see that prison I called a home has been destroyed. “Varela!?” I heard Michael yell in horror as he ran towards the house, I guess he couldn’t see me hiding behind the trees in the shadows of the dark pathway. I saw him ran towards my home, but one of he’s men grabbed him by the arms. “Sir, please you can’t go in there. You’ll die, it’s certainty.” He tried to explain, but I just watched out of interest. “Varela, she’s in there! I need to get her!” He yelled in, pain? “Varela is a strong woman, she can’t be dead.” He tried to reassure him, but he didn’t seem to buy it, as he struggled to get to the house. That’s when the people I freed came towards Michael and he’s men. “You!” Michael yelled. “Where is she?! Where is Varela!?” He said in agony as he walked up to my aunt. She only looked down in sadness, I guess she thought I was dead too. “She freed all of us before going in and killing herself and the men who stayed behind to kill her.” She sobbed out as tears fell freely, but I just watched the scene with a blank expression. Is this how people act when they die? But how come I never felt that way when Henry died? I tilted my head to the side as I watched them with my full attention, as if studying them. “Varela saved you, by killing herself?!” He then looked at one of he’s men as he grabbed a gun from he’s hands and held it to my aunt’s head. “Why should you live, and she die!? You trapped her with that sick man and you still breath!?” “She freed everyone, even me.” Aunt then push the gun gently away from her as she glared at him. “But why do you care for someone you don’t even know?” She asked with a raised eyebrow, I only wondered the same. “You do not get to questioned me.” He said coldly as he shot her dead. But I didn’t move, I just watched in fascination. I mean, I’ve killed before. I’ve seen death a lot. But what I’ve never seen was someone yelling in pain the way Michael did after death. “Sir, was that really needed?” One of he’s men said. “Delta Johnson, sister of Henry Johnson, and the aunt of Varela.” He replied coldly. “Varela killed her father then herself, she obviously did it so this mafia will die, without an heir no one can rule it.” Michael said as he turned to leave. But still the pain look on he’s face. “But since Delta was alive, she could have taken the position. So, you did this for Varela?” One of he’s men said as he followed from behind. But Michael only shrugged he’s words off as he walked further down the road near the cars. “Put these women into shelters and the maid and chefs, bring them with me. I could use their work.” Michael said as he walked off and got into the black SUV. “Yes, sir.” One of he’s men replied. I wanted to go to Michael and tell him I was fine, and well. But apart of me knew that he would claim me like Henry did. Meaning I won’t get another chance to see my mother. I turned to leave as my next task was to be reunited with my mother once again. ‘Will she remember me after all these years?’ I smiled widely as excitement ran through me, I couldn’t help but thank God for giving me the chance to seeing my mother again. Maybe I can forget this life and live with my mother again, we could be a family. A family. Maybe she’ll teach me what that means.
