Her phone vibrated as the final school bell echoed. She sighed, pulling it from her pocket, the name "Alexei" glowing on the screen.
Alexei: I'm here.
He really isn't taking the hint.
Anya: I told you I wasn't riding with you. :(
Alexei: Yes, you are. Let's go.
Anya huffed, shoving the phone back into her pocket, and offered a quick, tight-lipped goodbye to Yulia, who mouthed a sympathetic "good luck." I'll need it.
She joined the throng of students flowing toward the school's entrance, her eyes scanning the line of cars. It didn't take long to spot Alexei's sleek, dark Volga. Just keep walking. Ignore him. He wasted his own time and petrol.
She began her walk past his car, ignoring his calls. She crossed the street, pulling out her phone, feigning absorption.
"You're being a pain in my ass! Get in the damn car."
You wish.
"Anya, I'm not kidding. I have things to do. Get in the f*****g car."
She finally looked at him, her breath catching. God, why does he have to be so... striking?
She arched a brow. "Go do whatever it is you have to do. I'm fine."
She waved him away, hearing him curse under his breath.
"Get in the car or so help me..."
She rolled her eyes. "Or you'll what?"
She halted, crossing her arms, challenging him with a smirk. He tightened his lips, his agitation clear. Feels good to be the one pissing him off. A taste of his own medicine.
"Keep walking and find out..."
"f**k off, Alexei. You're not my няня, I can get myself home."
She leaned down, softening her expression mockingly. "Or is that too hard for you to understand?"
A mirthless laugh escaped him. She walked away, chuckling softly. His face was priceless!
Scrolling through her timeline, she didn't notice the screech of tires until his Volga was on the sidewalk in front of her.
"What the f**k, Alexei! You could have hit me!"
He hopped out, stalking toward her, a cocky expression. "I warned you."
She backed onto someone's lawn, and he scooped her up, tossing her over his shoulder. She flailed, slamming her palms against his back.
"Put me down, you stupid сукин сын! I'm not a child! Alexei!"
"Shut up. I told you I was picking you up. Stop being a jackass."
He tightened his arm, opening the passenger door, and dropped her into the seat. He slammed the door.
What an asshole.
"You're so f*****g annoying."
He grinned, pulling onto the road. "I don't know why you make things difficult."
"It's who I am. And if you weren't so insufferable, you wouldn't have to convince me."
"Insufferable? That's rich coming from you."
"How so?"
"Didn't seem so insufferable last night. You enjoyed yourself."
She pressed her forehead against the glass. Glad this will be held over my head.
"Maybe you wanted me to watch? Why didn't you lock your door? Or use headphones?"
He scoffed. "I didn't stay to watch. It was a reaction."
"Even now, you're turned on."
She glanced down.
"You keep clenching your thighs. You push your breasts forward, and your n*****s are hard."
How does he know?
"It doesn't matter."
"So, you're not denying it?"
She was captivated by his grin, his lips, his teeth. He's proud of himself.
"Contrary to your twisted view, not every woman wants you, Alexei."
He chuckled, tossing his head back. His hair fell onto his forehead.
"Oh, dorogaya, you're so wrong." He reached over, letting his fingers graze her thigh, sending a shiver through her. "You want me just as much as I want you. Don't pretend you don't."
His hand slid higher, his thumb tracing the seam of her skirt. Anya's breath hitched. She knew she should push his hand away, but the heat radiating from his touch made her want to lean into it.
"Alexei..." she whispered, her voice barely audible.
He smirked, his eyes darkening with desire. "Just admit it, Anya. Tell me you want me to touch you."
His fingers slid beneath the hem of her skirt, his touch sending a jolt of electricity through her body. She gasped, her hips arching involuntarily.
He chuckled, his voice a low, seductive growl. "That's my good girl."
