Betrayal

Astrid POV I stir awake looking at my surroundings. s**t, I'm still in this hell hole, a body lays beside me and I turn to see it's my mother's beaten up body. I check her pulse to see If anything is there. It's there but barely.... she is going to need help and soon. I look across the other cages to see Arista sleeping. I don't even know how she is sleeping at a time like this. I look to see a very weak but awake Cohen. He sends me a weak smile... I can't help but feel bad. I slowly crawl to the front of the cage, placing my cracked hands on the cold metal bars. "Hey... how are you feeling" I whisper. I watch as he pulls his body to face me I can tell he is in immense pain as he drags his body along the dirty floor. "I'm fine... how are you feeling" I watch his lips. His face showing the immense pain he was in. "I'm good...Cohen... what's the plan now... where do we go from here" I asked. I was afraid... what if we never made it out of here... What if my father succeeds with his plan. It was a scary thought to think about. I watched as Cohen said nothing. That means I have no choice but to come with a plan, this is my fight anyway. "Don't worry Cohen... I'll think of something" I assure him but in actuality, I had no clue what my plan would be. I just hope I'm not too late... *** I feel the floor vibrate letting me know someone is coming. Peering out the bars I see... Samael on the other side! I instantly jump for joy as I reach for my brother. "Samael thank goodness you came, I need you to get us out of here quickly" I explained pointing to the lock. He looks at me before sending me a wicked smile. "Now why would I do that dear sister," he says laughing hysterically. I'm so confused... I thought me and him had a strong bond. "Samael... this isn't a time for games... seriously open this stupid cage". He continues laughing as I bang on the stupid bars. "You hectic, why would I release you when you are the burden". I arch my eyebrows in confusion. Was he working with his father all this time? Why would he betray me... "Samael... you can't be serious, the father is trying to kill me. Honestly what have I done to make you hate me.... come on I need your help". I plead my case trying to get through to him. "You've been a burden to this family... that's why I poisoned your milk. I didn't expect I've... but you did taking mother's attention away from me. It only became worse when you became deaf and mother wanted us to learn sign language"! He talked so fast, rage clear on his face. I wanted to wallow to in self-pity... why did everyone hate me? Am I all that much a burden? With a harsh kick to the bars, I slowly inch my way back to my mother's body. I lifted her petite body in my arms trying to wake her up but to no avail. Samael sends me one last glare before leaving me and mother in darkness. Snuggling into my mother I feel my body relax. Then all of a sudden a voice enters my head. "Sister are you alright," the voice asked, I was so confused, was I finally turning crazy? "It's me Azar... don't worry me and your brothers are at the safe house. We are planning to attack in a couple of hours. Astrid... I know there is still some power left in you.. just hold on a little while longer." I sigh in relief, help was coming soon and I couldn't be happier. But what did she mean there is still some power left in me? My father stole my powers I was weak without them... I didn't stand a chance. Slowly I see Cohen stand up weakly stretching his muscles. He looked better than a couple of days ago, he still had that weak smile on his face. "Astrid... can you hear me," the deep voice asked. Ok, I seriously think I've gone crazy... "It's me Cohen... since we possess the same power we can mind link. I know it feels strange right now... but I have a plan... but I can't do it alone. I want to try and give you some of my power... I'm not sure it will work but let's give it a shot"... At this point, I was ready to give anything a try. So I nod my head to Cohen letting him know I would try. We won't know unless we try... Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes letting Cohen enter my head. I was praying this would work... I needed this to work. It started with a small burning sensation. I could feel the heat on the tips of my fingers. Then the heat made its way to my feet... traveling up my legs to my arms. The feeling felt familiar and I desperately held onto it tight. The rush of energy entering my body making me feel invincible. Like nothing could stop me or this amazing feeling. With one last buzz, it all suddenly stopped. I opened my eyes to a panting Cohen, did it work... I lift a hand towards the bars of my cage. Closing my eyes I used the energy I was given to forcefully crush the bars. Please work... After a few minutes, I open my eyes to see the bars crushed! I was shocked... I did it! I saw a shocked Cohen stare at me in amazement. "Well done my love" I blush at his compliment, what has gotten into me? I see a tired-looking Arista jump in excitement. I quickly break open their cages, hugging them tightly... it felt good to be free. "We need to move quickly, the guards might have heard the ruckus" Cohen suggests. I point to my unconscious mother. "I'm not leaving my mother behind" I declare. With a curt nod, Cohen helps me lift my mother, it's been a while since she's woken up. I'm scared my mother may not have much time... Once we situate my mother on Cohen's back we move quickly through the dark cave. It's dark as we try and move fast through the old broken down cave. Arista travels in her wolf form sniffing the floor. At the end of the cave, we see a brown door. "Hurry to open it" I whisper yell to Cohen. He twists the knob back and forth but to no avail. "Here hold your mother... I'm going to have to break it down" he mouths to me. I hold my mother's petite body as Cohen bust the door down with all his weight. We enter into a place that seems all too familiar. We were in my father's office... and there stood my father in all his glory. "Well look what we have here boys, my prisoners trying to escape". We huddled together as my father circles us his men pointing their weapons at us. Cohen I got this... you and Arista handle the guards... I'll deal with my father. I say quickly through the mind link. I step forward with my shoulders back and head held high. "If it's a fight you want father, what are you waiting for," I say with a smirk. And then the battle began...
