Noise!
A big noise in her head, bright lights in her eyes and her heart that was aching. She was sleeping on a bed in one of the houses.
Thea opened her eyes in a large room, in which the signs of wealth were evident. It smelled very beautiful and the quilt she was covered in was of the finest fabric. She gasped in horror when she remembered what had happened to her.
From her mother’s words to her running in the big forest that she had never dared to enter before, and from the intense silence in the room, I heard the sound of her turbulent breathing, then she put her head inside the pillow and began to cry, crying and crying and letting out everything in her. From words she cannot say, how will she tell herself that she is adopted, how will she answer her heart to hundreds of questions, who are my real parents and why did they not want me?
Thea gathered herself together and chose to be strong for now. She needs to know what happened a while ago, and because she does not remember anything, she must get up and discover the place.
The house was filled with the scent of lavender, white walls and many statues and paintings. She went downstairs and called but did not receive an answer.
It was only a few moments before she heard a sharp, warm, masculine voice calling her from behind, saying, “Aren’t you tired of sleeping?”
Thea flinched and turned quickly and saw a man she estimated to be in his twenties, the color of his hair rivaling the blackness of the night and the yellow of the sun settled in his eyes, a body with a strong build and a playful smile looking at her.
She stammered, "Who are you and how did I get here?"
The man approached and offered her a cup of coffee, “Let’s have coffee, Thea.”
"How do you know my name?"
She asked and he answered, "Look at the necklace you're wearing. Isn't it your name written on it?"
Thea remembered the necklace that her father had given her when she turned fifteen. She held it tightly as if she was embracing all the previous days and holding it in her soft hand. She did not respond to the man in front of her and kept looking at the ground.
"Did I say something bad?" The man said and Thea replied, “No, I just remembered something... You didn’t answer me. Who are you and why am I here?”
He smiled and walked over with his cup of coffee and sat on the sofa in front of the wall heater and said, "I'm Van. I was wandering in the forest and I saw you unconscious next to one of the trees, so I didn't see any reason to leave you there to be dinner for the wolves."
The girl went towards him and sat next to him and said quietly, “If what happened had not happened, I would not have gone out and I would not have been dinner for the wolves.”
"Do you want to talk?"
"No, I want to go home"
She said And she looked into Van's eyes and even she didn't know why. Maybe she was confused, lonely, afraid. All she needed was one real person at a time when she felt like everyone was fake.
"You can't go now. It's too late and the forest is dark and lonely. Maybe your house is far from here. Let me drop you off tomorrow morning."
Thea was silent because Van's words made more sense than her who would dare to go out into the woods at three in the morning, and at the same time she did not know if she could look into the eyes of her adoptive parents now.
"You can sleep in the room where you woke up a while ago. It's my room. I will sleep here, and if you need anything, tell me."
Thea thanked him and slowly pulled herself out, leaving the hot cup of coffee as it was, and went to sleep! But what kind of sleep is there in this turmoil of thoughts, should it come back? Will she be able to live like before with them after she knows who her real family is?
Many thoughts brought insomnia to her eyes that night...
When I woke up the next day, I was at Van's house. I thought a little, maybe I should get away for a while so that I don't make a mistake. A while away from home so I can think about what I should do.
I should have told the man who had me in his house for free, so if I didn't stay with him, where would I stay in this forest?
I went downstairs and searched for him for a long time. He was not home. I suddenly felt embarrassed. I felt like I was intruding into his life in order to solve my problems. I waited for him and he did not return. I waited for him some more and he did not return.
Until the night fell, I saw him entering the door. He was as quiet as always. He looked at me and sighed, “Are you still here?” It was as if he was waiting for me to leave. I felt more embarrassed and thought about retreating, but I caught myself and put my feelings aside and said
"Would it bother you if I stayed here for a while?" He looked at me and furrowed his eyebrows as if he was asking why, but I did not give him time to think and continued my words, “"I can't go home"
He looked at me and took small steps towards me, and when he was close to me, he shouted, “Tell me what’s going on with you.” I swallowed my saliva and moved away from him, step after step. What should I say and how would I tell him, but he suddenly embraced my hands and He said, "If you don't trust me to tell me your secret, how will you trust me to be with me in the same house?"
