“I saw her come this way” the taller of the two hissed to his comrade “She was right in front of my eyes.”
“Then where’s her scent” snapped the other one, gesturing wildly with his hands “It’s completely gone. It just fades. I think she went a different path, and you thought you saw her go this way.”
“We would have smelt her go a different way.”
“We would smell her if she’d gone this way”.
“Tell you what, let’s continue this way and then double back on a different path” the taller one suggested.
