Chapter 33: Tangled in Shadows (Secrets make desires burn hotter) The city lights flickered below like distant stars, but up here in Damon’s penthouse, the world had shrunk to just the two of them. Aria’s back pressed against the cold glass wall, her breath shallow, heart pounding a wild rhythm she couldn’t control. Damon’s hands gripped her waist with a fierce possessiveness that made her ache in places she didn’t want to admit. “Do you even realize what you do to me?” His voice was rough, thick with need and something darker—fear, maybe. She met his eyes, flames dancing behind the storm. “I’m just as lost as you.” He leaned in, his lips crashing onto hers with a hunger that stole her breath away. Every kiss was a war—fierce, desperate, and utterly consuming. His fingers tangled in her hair, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them. “I shouldn’t want this,” she gasped, voice trembling. “But I do.” Damon’s hands slid lower, tracing the curve of her hips, his touch igniting a wildfire beneath her skin. “Neither should I. But wanting you is all I’ve got.” The weight of their secrets pressed down on them, a suffocating darkness that threatened to tear them apart. But in this moment, nothing else mattered. Her hands clutched the fabric of his shirt, holding on as if letting go would shatter her completely. “We can’t keep doing this,” she whispered, voice thick with emotion. “It’s tearing me apart.” He pulled back just enough to look at her, eyes burning with raw honesty. “Then don’t stop. Not yet.” Their lips met again, slower this time, tasting the bitterness and sweetness of a love that wasn’t simple—or safe. Aria’s body trembled, caught between surrender and fear. Every touch was a promise and a warning. They were broken, tangled in shadows and secrets. But maybe, just maybe, they could find light there too.
