Chapter 45: Lick the Lies Off My Skin (I am the fire they never saw coming) Aria didn’t cry. Not this time. She stood in Damon’s penthouse, naked in every sense—skin bare, truth exposed—and felt the rage build like a slow, seductive burn. “You think I’m your game?” she said, stepping forward. “That I was just a contract to pass around between two broken men?” Damon didn’t answer. He couldn’t. So she laughed—dark and low, the kind of sound that made even the devil shift in his seat. She moved closer, hips swaying, eyes locked on him. “Fine. If I’m going to be the prize in this twisted little war… then watch me become the one who burns you both.” Her fingers slid down her own stomach, slow, deliberate, keeping her eyes on his. “You want to see what you gave up?” she whispered. “What you could’ve had?” She dropped to the couch, legs parted, fingers slipping between her thighs as she moaned—just soft enough to make him twitch. Damon growled. “Aria—” “Shhh,” she said, lips curling. “You had your turn.” He tried to move toward her. She raised a hand. “No. You don’t get to touch me.” She tilted her head back, her other hand sliding up to cup her breast, pinching until her breath hitched. “I’ll do it myself,” she moaned. “Since neither of you know what to do with me.” Damon’s hands clenched at his sides. “You’re playing with fire.” She met his eyes. “No, baby. I am the fire.” Then the door opened. And Cade walked in. He froze. Took in the scene—Aria, legs parted, flushed and fierce, Damon standing like he’d been caught mid-sin. The silence exploded. “What the f**k is this?” Cade snarled, eyes wild. Aria didn’t stop. She kept touching herself, gaze pinned on Cade now. “You wanted control? Here’s your control.” Cade stormed forward. “Aria, stop—” “I already did,” she snapped. “Stop believing your version of me ever existed.” She stood, still breathless, still glistening with heat, and walked past them both—naked, unapologetic, a goddess dripping in vengeance. Neither man stopped her. Because they couldn’t. Because for the first time… They were the ones left behind.
