Chapter 25

It is hard to be so carefree when you know things are not too simple around you.

Aoi Chiba thinks about this as she waits for Jin Sasai to arrive. She just received a call from Kenji Yanagi's assistant a little while ago this morning that she is requested to attend an annual gathering of the Yakuza members of Dojima Clan. Though it is not really common that Yakuza men will bring the company of their women along with them on such occasions, Kenji Yanagi still purposely instructed that Aoi Chiba must show up.

In terms of why she must? Aoi Chiba can just take a pretty wild guess. So as to fully oblige with what she has been told to do, she immediately agrees and wears the customized outfit that was sent too quickly after the call. It is a blue sequined dress that hugs every curve of her body. It somehow looks a bit too much for a formal event yet Aoi is too adamant to follow Kenji's favors.

If she does it this way, she can fastly manage to earn his trust. She already knows that he knows. If Sakamoto has been very sure of her mutual alliance with Ito Yamazaki prior to the incident, then it is no more of a surprise if Kenji has already been aware of that fact all this time. She had been a fool to think that she can even outwit him.

For such, this situation at hand now, is what she must need to take advantage of if she still wants to fulfill her mission.

A few minutes pass on and the elevator entrance of the pension house quickly opens and Jin Sasai walks in dressed with such elegance as he crosses the distance towards where Aoi Chiba has stood up from where she has been sitting on a couch by the living room. They simply just exchange glances and Aoi slowly meets Jin halfway.

Jin gestures his hand at her to walk back to the elevators first and they both soon enter the platform with not much of a word.

Only then when the doors close before them, Jin finally speaks.

"He will be introducing you to the clan as his fiancee, Miss Aoi."

For a split second, she thought she heard him all wrong.

But when the words finally sink in, she could feel the whole world stop. Aoi abruptly turns her head to give Jin a wide-eyed look of disbelief. Is that for real? She inwardly thought. Her whole body freezes with the feeling of total disbelief and million other things start to bombard inside her head.

His fiancee?

Why?

But if that will be the plan of Yanagi, then the odds are playing more in Aoi's favor. She would surely see Ito Yamazaki there, no doubt. And maybe if they meet again, she could finally give him one last shrug of her shoulder. That f*****g bastard.

For all that he has done, he sure likes to play dirty. And if this is how Yakuza men play around their bets, Aoi Chiba is definitely learning it the best way. She will show these men how crazy she can be and maybe by then, they could finally know what a real monster is.

"Is he going to marry me then?"

Assertively, she already expects this. And she won't ever really mind if that will be the endgame. She will marry Kenji Yanagi, even if it does not have anything to do with emotions. She can live her life that way and she will never ever regret it. If that is how this plan could work for her, she will bite the bait.

She can never settle for anything less anymore. She has learned a lot from all of her foolishness and stupidity. She will make the funniest fools out of these men and she will have the last laugh!

"Am I going to be a boss too?"

Asking this question, for such an insignificant woman in Kenji's life, Aoi Chiba truly has the audacity. And Jin Sasai has been caught off guard, which does not really happen so much, as he gives her a side glance. She looks serious. And there is not even a slight indication that she was humoring him with the question.

The floor slowly descends as Jin works his mind around the right words to tell her. This must have been a first from a really long time that he has been left tongue-tied by a certain unexpected question. But then, for the past few months, he has also noticed how great everything is being affected around him since the night Aoi Chiba entered their family.

Is this perhaps the reason why Kenji cannot get rid of this woman?

Because she has something so strangely interesting about her?

She sounds quite boastful when she had asked the question... Did she really think she was going to be as powerful as Kenji just because they are deeply affiliated with each other? By label?

"So what is it?" It has taken Jin quite long to respond back to Aoi that Aoi herself quickly urges him to speak. "Am I going to be your boss too?"

She even smiles.

And that almost looks like she was trying to mock him. But Jin merely chuckles as he shakes his head at her. She knows her position, alright. Yet she is just as complacent as always. She never really backs down. Not even against the Yanagi boss.

"Who do you think you are, Miss Aoi?"

Jin smugly utters back, smirking as he turns to face Aoi who is standing beside him inside the elevators. They are nearing the basement floor now where their chauffeur is currently waiting for their exit.

Aoi Chiba does not even bat an eye. The slight edge of a threat is very clear in the tone of Jin's voice, but she only shrugs a shoulder as she breaks the deep gaze they are both giving to each other.

"I'm your boss' fiancee, Jin," Aoi simply replies, looking straight ahead, just in time that the doors ping open before them.

And after walking out of the elevators, leaving Jin behind her, she smirks to herself.

Let these men realize how bad it is... To fool a woman like her.

Because revenge can only get much sweeter after this.
