Chapter 3

Clue advanced with purpose, her eyes subtly illuminated by the moonlight. “This evening, Raven, you shall confront the darkness that resides both within and around you. The enigmatic wolves seek to exploit your most vulnerable aspects—your fears and your doubts.” I inhaled deeply, feeling an increasing pressure that constricted around me like a noose. Yet, beneath this pressure, a spark—a flicker of determination—persisted. “Commence,” Clue instructed. The surrounding forest transformed. One of the enigmatic wolf individuals, designated Gamma, coiled and merged, taking the form of a figure cloaked in obscurity. It moved with an unsettling elegance, its eyes resembling voids of limitless night. “You are unable to confront me with physical strength,” Gamma proclaimed, its voice reminiscent of a chilling breeze. “You cannot escape from your true self.” I closed my eyes and delved deeply within, invoking the light that Clue had assisted me in awakening. A silver energy radiated from my skin, enveloping me in warmth. “I do not embody your fears,” I asserted firmly. “I am more than that.” At that moment, Gamma lunged forward. Raven experienced a profound vision in her dream, where in a figure communicated with her in a resonant voice: "You are the chosen one. Avenging your father’s death is imperative; we are guiding your path." My mother embraced me and assured, “He will return soon,” though I remained disheartened and longed to see my father. To uplift my spirits, my mother took me for a walk, during which she attempted to teach me certain skills associated with being a wolf. However, I struggled with transformation and felt markedly different from others. Despite her continued efforts, my mother eventually ceased her attempts to help me in becoming a wolf. I began to spend time with her, assisting in cooking and shopping at the market, yet my father remained absent. I matured under my mother's guidance, and upon reaching the age of eighteen, my father had been away for five years. The community speculated about the reasons for his prolonged absence. In light of this situation, a clan meeting was convened to discuss my father's disappearance. The village elders inquired whether my mother had made a visit to my grandparents. My mother had not received any information about my father, leading the community to decide to send three warriors from the Oscar clan to search for him at his parents' residence. My mother was to accompany them on this journey. I remained with the elders, awaiting news of their findings. Upon arriving at my father’s parents' home, my father's mother expressed her surprise, stating, “My daughter-in-law, you came to visit me. Is everything well?” My mother replied, “Mother, how are you? I am searching for your son; he has not returned home. Why has he chosen to stay away?” His mother was taken aback and responded, “My son departed three years ago. What do you mean you are searching for him?” My mother became visibly distressed, starting to weep, confused by the implication of her words. Following the initial inquiries, my mother and the warriors searched tirelessly for my father. During their search, one of the warriors discovered a deceased wolf. He called the others to his side. Upon examination, they found the skeletal remains of a wolf accompanied by a moon necklace. Upon recognizing the necklace, my mother began to cry, realizing it belonged to her husband. The warriors transported the remains back to the village for a proper burial. To this day, the cause of my father's death remains unknown. When I beheld his bones, I was overcome with grief, as he had served as both my best friend and paternal figure. Each night, I experienced vivid dreams involving an ancient alpha who proclaimed that I was chosen and that the clan required my assistance. The elders summoned me, and one of them, named Elder Clue, inquired whether I had experienced any unusual dreams. I informed her, “Yes, I have been dreaming of the ancient alpha who frequently visits me in my sleep.” “That signifies the necessity for your training,” Elder Clue remarked as she approached. Her long silver hair framed a visage shaped by time and wisdom. “You are the Light Bearer—an essential connection between our world and the spirits. Your gift is both rare and potentially perilous; without proper guidance, it may overpower you.” I looked up, feeling a surge of determination. “Please instruct me.” The elder agreed and took my hand; her grip was both warm and grounding. “Tonight, we shall commence your training. You will learn to attune yourself to the moon, the earth, and the spirits that inhabit the space in between.” As dawn approached, I experienced a newfound intensity within me—a blend of hope and responsibility. Being chosen did not imply conformity to the ways of others; it suggested that I was destined to forge my own path. In embracing this distinction, I might ultimately safeguard our community. As the nights grew progressively colder, I engaged more deeply in my training with the elders. They taught me to expand my awareness beyond the physical realm—to discern the whispers of the trees, to perceive the rhythm of the earth beneath me, and to visualize the connections that link all living entities. This experience differed from the raw power associated with transforming into wolf form; it was subtler, more tranquil, yet equally potent. One evening, as the blood moon ascended, Elder Clue guided me to the edge of the sacred lake—a site where the barrier between worlds is diminished. “Tonight, you will encounter the spirits,” she gently indicated. “They will provide guidance.” i positioned myself by the water’s edge, with moonlight reflecting like liquid crimson. I closed my eyes, inhaled deeply, and allowed my thoughts to drift. Initially, there was only silence. Then, an ancient and wise presence emerged. “You are the bridge,” the spirit conveyed, its voice reminiscent of the wind traversing through pines. “You embody the strength of both worlds. Trust in your abilities, and you shall illuminate the darkness more radiantly than any moon.”
