CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE Soaring high above the mountain peak with the current guiding them, Ramos gave Dax one final look a their island home. “I can’t even begin to say how weird this is.” Dax chuckled as he clung to the spines of his friends back. “At least you’re alive to feel weird about this.” Ramos replied. “Things could have gone south very easily. Dax gazed out beyond the island’s edge into the vast expanse of ocean. Not knowing how long it would be before he returned, Dax took his time, committing every detail to memory as he rode the wind. “Time to go,” Ramos commanded. As he turned with the wind. “I’d like to make it back home before our egg hatches!” He beat his massive wings a few times and picked up speed before spreading them again and catching the current once more.
