CHAPTER SIXTEEN Lyssa didn’t finish her shift. After returning from the restroom, she served two tables, then Blaser told her to head home. And it wasn’t as a favor to Colt. His own issues were distracting him, yes. But she read guilt in him too, obviously over what she and Destiny were subjected to by Marshall and Zeke. Not that there was much of a trauma. Destiny had been due to go on stage. Blaser had given her a pass and another girl took her spot, leaving Destiny free to go home as well. Protesting the invitation would’ve drawn attention to her. Who would elect to do cleaning rather than skip it? Others would jump at the chance to bunk off. Refusing to do the same might raise suspicions. After agreeing to leave, she went through the usual routine of showering and changing her cloth
