Desmond felt the world around him still. His mouth and eyes were opened in surprise. He realized that he he been a fool—a big one! He remembered all the unnecessary surges, push and excitement of his wolf whenever he was around her. His erections had always clouded his senses so he didn't pay attention to the signs! He only managed to quietly say, "Mate??"
"I thought you knew" said Joseph. "I always suspected it hence the joke I made the other day."
"What's a mate?" Summer asked no one in particular.
"It's just like..." Joseph thought of the best way to explain. "... It's like someone with whom you spend the rest of your life with. Like a soul mate."
"Then why does Desmond look so shocked?". She was silently rejoicing that the universe saw them fit for each other.
