They reached the capital at dusk. Ember walked through the streets. People stared. The blue light in her chest was unlike anything they had seen.
"What is that?" a woman asked.
Xin stepped forward. "She is from the Forge. The source of all sources. She is here to help."
The crowd backed away.
"Help or control?" a man shouted.
Ember raised her hands. Blue light spread across the crowd. People flinched. Then relaxed. The gold light in their chests grew brighter.
"I am here to heal," Ember said. "Not to harm."

"They are scared."
"They should be. She is more powerful than anything we have seen."
Xin walked to Ember. "The council wants to question you."
"I expected nothing less."
