Ash’s POV
Jace was leaving again today.
The sight of his leaving back— That got further and further away from me… Felt numb and stupid. Stupid that it still made me this sad.
I thought my heart couldn’t shatter to pieces anymore because they were already little shards.
But I was wrong. The day that Jace got the phone call from his commander I knew I was setting myself up for another heart break.
Even though your heart is already in pieces, they could still break.
And the worst part was…
It only got more painful. Every little shards beat their own pain and thrum their own sadness in my blood.
