Alpha training: 2

1195 Words
After the first week of aptitude tests the headmaster's decided that my education needed to focus on pack history. The female was the one to approach me about it. "Alpha J, please stay behind for a few moments so we can talk." "of course headmistress. Did I do anything wrong?" She never asked anybody to stay late so this put me on edge. Once the last student left her features softened along with her voice. "Oh no dear, the opposite actually. The headmaster and I have been looking over the aptitude tests the past few nights as we receive them. Do you remember when we explained the reason for these tests?" She questioned with a warm smile "Yes ma'am. We take the tests to show what we know and need to learn." I remember their entire speech from the day we met. "Well dear you have exemplary marks in all subjects. I dont know who taught you before arriving here but they did an amazing job. Since technically you have tested out of all subjects there is a choice to be made here. We will be starting week 2 in a couple days; during this period the other Alphas will be focusing on the subjects they have low marks in and attempt to bring them up before time runs out." The headmistress paused allowing me of absorb everything. "Since you cant score any higher in almost all subjects you have the option to either focus on the one subject where your mark isn't 100% or jump into the physical portion of training. Take the day and decide there is no rush." "Ma'am I've already decided. I would like to focus on my marks being in top shape before I continue on any further. If thatd be alright." I stood tall and spoke clearly attempting to carry myself as my father had instructed. The headmistress stood from her chair and proceeded around her desk towards me. "Dear you are already a brilliant alpha. I'm sure you will only rise from here. I will inform the headmaster of your decision and begin forming a curriculum for you to continue week 2." She engulfed me into a tight hug and began whispering into my ear a soft prayer I faintly remember finishing with my packs words of comfort, "strength be with you ColdRose." At that I froze. How could she know those words? They were only ever said in mindlink between pack members, never to be spoken amongst outsiders. She pulled back and looked into my eyes. "How do you know that?" I asked with a shakey breath "Alpha J, I wasn't born to be an alpha as you were. I was born to mated rogues." She paused "One night when I was about 4 we were attacked by another group, they wanted the land we were on. My father held off the attackers allowing mother to escape with me, but she only made it a short distance before the other rogues caught up. Mother hid me in a tree and began fighting for her life. Seconds after she fell I spotted a massive black wolf charging towards me from the field. I started panicking knowing that this wolf would be able to reach me in the tree, but as it got closer his light blue eyes calmed me. He tore into every rogue surrounding the tree I was in until there were none standing. Do you know who that wolf was?" "It was Flame, fathers wolf." I whispered with tears in my eyes. "Flame never could stand to see a child injured whether from our pack or not." "That's right dear. Flame and I became very close after that day. He is the one that taught me the Coldrose warrior prayer and words of comfort. When I turned 16 and met my wolf, francis, I also became an official member of Coldrose. I met my mate the following year and become his Luna." I was shocked. Sure I knew father was a well loved Alpha, but I hadn't realised that extended past our pack. If it were possible my father would've just earned even more respect from me. "Dear you will grow to be a True Alpha like your father. Most think that the job of an Alpha is to only protect the pack; however, a True Alpha knows that all wolves deserve to be safe whether pack or rogue. The headmaster and I are forever in your fathers debt for saving my life and allowing my mate and I to meet. If there is ever an emergency your pack may call on us for assistance." She hugged me again; that's when I realized it. The headmistress must have thought father stepped down for some reason. Tears began to for in my eyes as I started to explain. "ma'am it pains me to have to tell you this, but Alpha James is no more. That is why I've become the current Alpha so soon." She was shocked. I thought she might actually faint. "how?" it was barely louder than a whisper "a month before I enrolled in the academy the pack was attacked. We lost our Alpha, Luna, and both Betas in the battle. Before the Luna was taken down she got a link off to Alpha Xander for assistance. He couldnt reach us in time tho. Fatality count was 250 pack and 400 rogues by the end. Once he arrived we reconnected and he agreed to assist us in rebuilding our pack. While I'm here he's looking over Coldrose." I felt tears rolling down my face as I told this woman of my parents downfall. I paused for a moment as she seemed to be thinking about something. She saw my confusion and explained. "Dear I dont understand. If Alpha Xander has taken control of ColdRose, even just for the time being, how do you still have to much power? All pack members would have to sware loyalty to him for it to be offical." "Well ma'am as you know we follow rules very closely in Coldrose. All members are to do as they wish during a transition period. They can either follow the new Alpha, challenge the new Alpha, or become rogues." I raised my eyebrow and gave her a slight smirk before continuing. "The pack agreed that all young children without their wolves would go to BloodRock along with about 20 older pack members. The rest of ColdRose refused to submit to another Alpha thus becoming 'rogues' until I return. Alpha Xander is providing security for the rogues on ColdRose until I return." The headmistress gave me a look of pure admiration before engulfing me in another hug. "Dear for the pack to refuse to leave you while you're here means that you have not only inherited the title but also earned it. I cant imagine what you had to do for that kind of respect at such a young age." She looked deep into my eyes "Now dear is almost time for dinner. Go get cleaned up and I'll see you in an hour." With that I turned and headed to my room.
