Leaving home

I stayed on packlands for a month after the attack while we rebuilt and got the pack situated but the end came to soon. Terra and I were fixing the fences on the north side of the territory when Alpha Xavier arrived followed by 2 black SUVs. We ran to the pack house knowing he'd want to see me.

"Alpha you're back soon."

"Well yes dear I just received your letter for Alpha training and I thought youd like to open it" He stated while handing me a manila envelope flashing me in bright smile.

I took the envelope and began reading the first paper I grabbed from it.

"Dear Alpha J, we would like to formally invite you to join us for your Alpha training. Training will begin in exactly 1 month. You may bring your beta or a guard to accompany you throughout your training if youd like. Please be on your best behavior while you're with us. - Alpha admissions"

Inside the envelope had the acceptance letter, class schedule, required attire, room key, and building layout. Everything I'll need to prepare for training.

"I will be back next week to take you to the academy. Choose somebody to accompany you for the duration of training. Be sure its somebody that has contact with their wolf incase anything happens while you're there." With that Alpha Xavier hugged me and climbed back into the SUV's to leave.

My eyes clouded over as I mind linked my most trusted warrior, "John can you meet me in my office for a minute?"

"Yes Alpha. I'll be right there."

Withing a minute John was in my office helping me plan for training. We went over my schedule, room placement, clothing, and protective measure for while we're away. The academy is setting up all Alphas in there own rooms with their company in an adjoining room to put our wolves at ease. Alpha wolves are very territorial; which makes group training like this very dangerous, unless the Alphas have others with them.

By the end of the week we were packed and ready for Alpha Xavier to pick us up. It was a long trip but we made decent time thanks to my uncle we were able to drive straight there. After about 10 hours of driving we arrive a beautiful red brick 5 story mansion. There around wide fields on both sides, I imagine the back is open too, probably some kind of training field. Teenage boys are swarming the fields talking and laughing amongst themselves like they're all old friends.

Our pack is one of the few that follow the original rules. One of which states that any first born from an Alpha has the right to the title; while most packs now stick to male alphas, the Coldrose pack doesnt care about gender. With that being said if a pack member wished to take the title during the transition to a new Alpha the new Alpha must accept the challenge.

Thankfully during my transition into the title my remaining pack members all agreed that they wouldnt want anybody else as their alpha. They were amazed by Kataras determination to protect the pack and my ability to take control of the situation.

"ready to go in dear?" my uncle chimed in my ear

"sure Uncle" I popped my door open and hopped out lowering James onto the ground. He wouldnt allow us to leave until we agreed to show him where I'd be living.

John and an omega grabbed our bags and followed us to the front of the mansion. Glancing at the map I recieved in the admissions packet it seemed to be a straight shot to our rooms. While making our way through the halls the whispers started,

"who's that?"

"she is just a child"

"I wonder if he's the Alpha and those are his little siblings" John released a soft giggle at that one, but was instantly cut off with a low warning growl from me.

"Come on J lighten up! you're the talk of school already and we haven't even been here an hour; plus I am like a big brother to yu and James here." John whispered into my ear. Hes right I shouldn't be too upset I mean nobody expect a child to be an Alpha.

"Sorry John, Kataras just a bit on edge around all these alphas"

"pfft, future alphas" Katara chided

"what do you mean" Shes got me curious

"can you feel their power?"

"no" now I'm annoyed "Katara what are you getting at?" I snapped

"If they're actual Alphas youd be feeling their power. They're all looking at you because they can sense your Alpha power, but John is so close that they think it's coming from him.

Typical sexist men." Katara took a deep breath taking in her surroundings.

"From the scents I'd say there's only 2 other acting Alphas attending the school. There are about 20 Alphas currently on the grounds but only 2 of them smell young enough to be attending." She had always been good with scents but I hadn't realized she was this good.

"Thank you Katara. I'm sorry for snapping."

"Its okay J I'm on edge too. I dont like being this far from our territory"

Katara and I were so caught up talking that we hadn't noticed when we fell behind John and Alpha Xavier. I was holding James' hand as we walked towards the room the guys had just entered. It was painted blue with black accents, had a long dark wood dresser on one wall, a walk in closet filled with my clothes on the other with a door I'm assuming leads to the bathroom. John scoped out my room then left to go check his out which was right across the hall.

"Well dear what do you think?" Alpha Xavier asked with a raised brow

"Honestlt Uncle, I love it. they even painted it ColdRose colors" I told him with a tear in my eye. Katara and I had been so worried about getting homesick but with this room it may be bearable.

Once we got all my stuff settled it was time for Alpha Xavier and James to go back to the pack territory. He was ecstatic to take James in and help me raise him. Uncle has never gotten over the loss of his mate and they never had children so hes been rather lonely the past few years. We went back out to the front drive and said our goodbyes. Alpha Zavier gave me a tight hug and told me to call if there was anything I needed. I squatted down to be eye level with James. We needed to have a serious talk before he left.

"James what do we do if there is an emergency like at our pack house?" I asked cautiously

"I hide or run. Hide if I can, but run if I need to. If I hide I stay hidden until you and Katara come get me." Since the attack we go over this anytime I leave him. If he knows what to do I wont be so worried when something happens.

"That's perfect James. Now if anything happens while I'm here Alpha Zander will get ahold of John and I. This distance will not keep me from you if you ever need me. okay?" I hold his gaze until he tells me that he knows.

"Good. Stay safe my little prince. Strength be with you ColdRose"

"and also with you Alpha" James gave me a small salute and released a giggle as I tousled his hair.

John and Alpha Zander said their goodbyes while I loaded James into the black suv.

"ALL ATTENDING ALPHAS REPORT TO THE BACK FEILD!" With that announcement from the head master John and I turned and headed to the back of the mansion.
