Downfall of ColdRose

They are 10 yards away from the edge of the forest when suddenly the Luna stops and shoves Jazmine behind her getting into a defensive stance while releasing a protective growl that makes the earth shake around them.

"mom what's going on" Jazmine gets out in a shakey breath

"J stay behind me and listen to everything I tell you. you may need to use your training so stay alert"

The luna has never been one to show fear which makes Jazmine all the more fearful when she mothers voice catches in her throat.

Jazmine raises her head into the air taking a calming breath like she's been taught and focusing all her senses on what's around her.

She can hear the birds flapping their wings, trees rusting in the summer wind, deer running with all their strength, and something that sounds like distant screaming.

The Luna releases a menacing growl just as Jazmine realised what these sounds mean. War.

"We are being attacked by rogues! Anybody that can escape get to the safe house! I dont know how long we can hold them off. Please be safe and look out for the pack. Strength be with you ColdRose!" With that father's mindlink cut off.

I looked at the Luna with tears brimming my eyes. "mom..?"

She grabbed me by the shoulders making me focus on her. As I took her in all I could see was the sadness and determination pouring from her eyes. My mother, the Luna, was scared.

"Dear I am the Luna. I must protect my people. Please go to the safe house as fast as possible. You must keep a calm head and help the others through this. We will have many losses and the people will need help until the Alpha and I arrive." Mothers eyes never left mine sending a warm calming sense through me.

"Okay Luna the pack and I will be waiting. Please return soon with the Alpha and the Prince. Strength be with you Luna of ColdRose." With that I hoisted myself into the tree to start my travel to the safe house. What nobody realises is that I've learned it's faster to travel through the trees than it is on the ground but it takes a lot of practice.

As I climbed higher off the ground I could smell my mother moving further into the territory, further into the war

"I have lost the Prince! we were separated near the north edge of the territory! Alert me when he is found and by who!"

Almost falling from the tree I halted when I heard fathers mind link ring through my head. While I have been training in Alpha tactics and fighting skills over the past 3 years my younger brother James, the prince, is only 6 and hasn't had any training. Hes been taught to hide or run if anything happens but hes so small nobody can find him when hes hiding except my wolf Katara.

"Everybody continue as you are! I will find the Prince and escort him to the safe house. Please survive and we shall meet soon! Strength be to you ColdRose!" Only my father knew I could mindlink but I knew the others would know my voice.

"And also with you future Alpha" the whole pack responded within seconds

The first time Father and I mind linked was during a meeting with a visiting Alpha. I was standing next to my father listening to the visiting Alphas request for training assistance when I noticed his ridiculous pink and green argyle socks. By the middle of the meeting father was doubled over laughing from my inner monologue and asked for a short break. He then sat me down and explained how to close and open the link. Father apologized to the other Alpha and explained the situation but used mothers name instead of mine. Thankfully the other Alpha wasn't upset and actually thought it nice to see a happy Alpha and Luna.
