THE MURDER WEAPON EPISODE TWENTY

The search was done and we headed back to the police station. I was released but just like before with a strict warning not to leave the country as long as investigations were still on going. If they happened to find anything linking me to any of those crimes, they would surely arrest me and nake sure I suffer greatly for wasting their time.

I left the police station and went straight home. I badly wanted to see waridi but I could not because Its a shameful thing to say but I didn't know her house. I hoped to get home and find her there or maybe call her to come over and thank her for there is no girl I know that would have done what she did to me

WARIDI'S HOME

Waridi and Renee talked alot sharing alot of stuff that was going on in their lives and by the time they were done, it was around 1:00pm so Renee opted to leave and attend to other stuff she needed to before the burial that was postponed after they heard of Rahim's arrest.

Waridi on the other hand was preparing to go to the police station to see if she could see Rahim or better still bail him out so she hugged Renee and saw her walk to the door as she returned the two cups to the kitchen.

After placing the cups in the sink she heard a "shhhhhhh!" sound and some movement so she rushed out of the kitchen and saw a guy holding a gun to Renee's head as she walked backwards.

Nick: if you try to scream I will kill her.

Nick lead waridi and Renee back to the house and had them sit on the couch.

Nick: you couldn't keep your mouth shut after our talk could you?

There was silence.

Nick: (shouting) am talking to you Renee

Waridi: who is he?

Nick: shut up.

Renee: am sorry, I didn't know it was a secret

Nick: well, on the plus side, you did well. I knew you would lead me somewhere and so I followed you here. How nice will it be to get rid of my problems both at once?

Waridi: what do you want with us?

Nick: nothing really. I just want Rahim to pay for what he did to my father and give back the spar and everything else he stole from me.

Waridi: but we are not Rahim and you can't settle your scores with us.

He walked to where waridi was and grabbed her by the hair then looked in her eyes.

Nick: don't talk back at me!

He slapped her then turned to Renee.

Nick: maybe I should start with you since your life is worthless anyway.

After the conversation Clark had with waridi the previous night he wasn't sure if things would still remain the same between them but either way he still called her severally but she never picked his call so he sat in his car for a while thinking of what could have happened. Could she have gotten in trouble for going to Rahim's house last night and could she still be mad at me? What if the police were on standby and got her arrested when she got there? Clark was caught in between searching for the guns and going to check on waridi since he also had a deadline from Faruk to beat.

When I got home, the place was a bit messy after the search but that didn't even matter, all i wanted was to get in touch with waridi but I realized I didn't have my phone with me neither was it where I had left it so i decided to go see Renee and explain to her what had happened. I took a piece of paper and wrote a note to waridi telling her i was free but had gone to see Renee for i knew she would wait if she realized I was back.

WARIDI'S PLACE

Nick grabbed Renee's arm and threw her to the floor. "All of you worked together to bring my father down and now it's my turn to make him proud by avenging his death.

Waridi: and what will you gain by that?

Nick: I will be the most powerful man after my father, I will raise his empire back on it's feet and make his legacy live on.

Nick c****d his gun and pointed it at Renee who already had her head covered with her hands waiting for the worst to happen.

On Waridi's table there was a fork and a dish that had some fruits in it from the previous night when she got back from Rahim's place all tired and couldn't cook.

Nick has his back turned to her so without thinking twice she quickly grabbed the fork and pushed it into Nick's arm making the gun go off and shoot the wall. When Renee saw what happened she quickly grabbed Nick feet pulling them and making him land on his butt. Everything happened so fast and even though Nick tried to aim his gun, he didn't manage as the two ladies had pinned him down doing a number on him.

Nick was strong so as much as the ladies tried to fight him, he still managed to hold them off though he couldn't kill any of them given the fact that the gun had fallen off his hand. Waridi being smart realized the fork still stuck in his arm so she pressed the fork and he let go of Renee whose neck he had in his arm.

Waridi: take the gun and shoot him

Renee quick took the gun and pointed it at her.

Renee: let her go!

Renee's hands were shaking and waridi was as sure as hell that she didn't even know how to pull a trigger.

Renee: let her go or I swear i will shoot you.

Nick let waridi go then she hurriedly ran to where Renee was standing.

Waridi took the gun from Renee and they both ran towards the door as Nick pulled out the fork and got up almost immediately going after them.

Renee and waridi ran out of the house headed for Waridi's car and just as Nick was coming out Clark pointed a gun in his stomach and shot him catching all of them off guard.

Waridi and Renee stopped running and turned.

Waridi: oh my God, Clark?

Waridi said running towards him and they hugged.

Clark: are you guys okay?

Renee: No

She started crying and waridi hugged her.

Waridi: it's okay dear. It's over

Clark: what happened?

Waridi: the guy showed up at my door step and he wanted to kill both of us.

Clark: why?

Waridi: some unsettled beef with Rahim.

As they were still talking a call came through Renee's call. It was an unknown number.

Renee: I can't pick this call.

Waridi: then hang up!

She did as waridi had asked her but the phone rang again and this time waridi decided to pick.

Waridi: who is this?

Me: it's Rahim,

Waridi: oh my God are you okay, where are you?

Me: I came to see Renee but she is not here, are you with her?

Waridi: yes, are you out already. Please come to my place, am sending you the direction.

Me: okay, on my way.

I had borrowed a phone so that I could call Renee and when I learned she was with waridi I headed there.

Half an hour later I was taking the junction to Waridi's place and minutes later I was there.

I was welcomed by a gathering and a dead body being carried out of the compound to the police land rover.

The police recognized who I was and after a word with them they let me in. I hurried towards waridi and Renee and waridi hugged me so tight.

Waridi: I was so scared for you.

I kissed her on the forehead then hugged Renee too. She looked so shaken and when I hugged her she broke down in my arms too.

Me: it's okay, am here now. What the hell went down here?

Clark: they were paid a visit by Nick who seemed to have some unfinished business with you.

Me: that was Nick, how the hell did he get here?

Renee: he followed me. Apparently he broke into my house last night and told me alot of stuff about you but it's all settled

I took the girls inside then came out to help Clark clear people out of the compound after the police had left.

Me: were they hurt?

Clark: no, they defended themselves pretty well.

Me: they shot him?

Clark: no I shot him

Me: and you didn't get arrested?

Clark: it was self defense and besides that I know one of the police men through Faruk.

Me: are we still on for our mission?

Clark: are you serious, you just came out of jail.

Me: prison could be worse. We need to eliminate those guys before any of the murder's are traced back to us. If vjays team speak out about their leaders death we are doomed.

Clark: fine but you remember the guy I wanted you to help me take down?

Me: yeah, what about him?

Clark: let's do it tonight. Before we head to vjays place.

Me: okay, who are we killing?

Clark: Faruk!

Me: are you out of your mind?

Clark: No, Faruk is holding something against me and I might go down for it if we don't take him down.

Our conversation I was interrupted by waridi who probably was at the door watching us for a few minutes. Am not sure if she heard anything but she came to bring me my phone which was ringing.

Waridi: the mortuary people are calling.

I took the phone from her and talked to the mortuary guys who had been waiting the entire day since we had told them the bodies would be collected in the morning. Aftwr the talk, we agreed for the bodies to be collected the following day for burial and after the phone call, Clark and I went back inside and joined the ladies.

We spoke about the burial and made sure everything was in place before Clark and Renee opted to leave.

Clark: I will give you a call around at around 5pm.

Me: sure.

I saw them off, gave Renee a hug and assured her everything was going to be okay and after they left I went back inside and waridi was looking all gloomy and when she saw me she got up.

Me: are you okay?

I asked walking up to her and hugging her before planting a kiss on her lips.

Waridi: I was so scared that you would get locked up.

Me: and leave you with who?

She hugged me again then we sat next to each other holding her hands into mine.

Me: thank you for clearing my house off all the things that could have gotten me in trouble. You are the reason am not locked up.

Waridi: well, I did what any normal person could be.

Me: can I have them back?

She nodded then got up and went to one of the rooms and came back with the bag then put it on the table and stood there waiting for me to open it and I did and the first thing I saw was the frame with a photo on it.

I took it out and looked at it then put it on the table as i looked at waridi who was definitely waiting for an explanation.

Me: I see, you found this.

Waridi: yeah, i did as I was cleaning off all the stuff that could have gotten you in trouble.

Me: so why that look?

Waridi: well, I hoped by now you would have told me if there was someone whose place I have been trying to get comfortable in.

Me: come in love, don't talk like that, the fact that i have never talked about her does not mean she exists, come here.

She looked at me not sure if she wanted to trust me but she came anyway and I had her sit on my lap.

Me: listen, the lady in the picture is called Alysa. She is my ex and i loved her so much that I could do anything for her but the love was one sided. By then I didn't have money and I was just some broke kid in the hood.

Alysa started playing me and started avoiding me as well. One time we were walking together in town after classes when some guy with a range pulled over and hooted. Alysa knowing who he was, she hugged me and said she would call me and just like that, she left me standing there like a fool.

I was so mad that the next time she came over I threw her stuff out of my house never to see her again. She is the reason I decided to look for money by all means so that the next girl I would date, would never dump me for a rich guy again. I kept this frame because I loved her but the truth is, she doesn't mean anything to me anymore.

Waridi: what changed?

Me: I met a beautiful woman that made me think twice about having vowed never to fall in love again. She was sitting by the pool and I said to myself, I must get that girl and today, she is here with me seated on my lap.

She looked at me and I kissed her again.

Me: I have never asked you to be my girlfriend because I never saw myself worthy of your love. I never even thought you would like someone like me.

She cupped my face into her hands and kissed me again.

Waridi: there is no one in this whole world I would rather be with right now. If I met you when you were still broke, I would have still loved you the same.

She offered to fix me something to eat as we cuddled and kissed some more with me all over her in the kitchen as she did whatever she was doing. This woman was so fine and attractive that she had me charmed with everything about her.

ELSEWHERE

Clark had dropped Renee home and after making sure she was okay he left for his place but while in the car he got a call from Faruk.

Clark: yes Faruk,

Faruk: have you found the murder weapon, I need to know am safe from the police because alot of s**t has been going down lately. I heard of Rahim's arrest.

Clark:I have not found it yet but am working on it, you know the gun has my prints too right and am twice as worried.

Faruk: then do something about it, the clock still ticks and I still mean what I said.

Clark: yeah I know that. Am working on it.

At around 7:30 I got a call from Clark asking to meet up and even though I was having an awesome evening with waridi I had to get some flies off my back once and for all. If Clark wanted Faruk dead that meant he had something against him and eliminating him was going to be the only option so because I couldn't deal with Faruk myself, I had to go along with Clark's plan.

After the conversation with Clark i took two guns and stuffed some bullets in them before tucking them behind my jeans and putting on my jacket.

Waridi: please be careful out there. You can't trust anyone. Not even Clark.

Me: I thought you and Clark were close?

I asked putting on my shoes.

Waridi: yes we are but the people you trusted have betrayed yiu before right?

I nodded.

Waridi: then be careful out there and come back safe.

I got up kissed her then looked into her eyes.

Me: I will be back safe and sound.

She walked me to the door and I walked out.

I got a cab and met up with Clark at around 8pm. I got in his car and we had a conversation of how we were going to go through the night. Faruk's club was full being a Friday and if we were going to kill him, we had to do it there so that no suspicion would be raised if anyone saw us there and no one would really know who kill him.

Me: you know you will have to tell me what Faruk has against you right?

Clark: well, he had me kill dukes and now he is threatening to kill me because the gun used on that night went missing.

Me: what do you mean by went missing?

Clark: I stole it from his office and it girl stolen from my house.

Me: by who?

Clark: I have no idea.

After the conversation with Clark, I think I had a clear view of what waridi meant when she told me not to trust anyone.

We came up with a strategy where we were going to cut off the power supply for one of us to get into faruk's office and kill him before the the generator kicked in 3-5 minutes and since I was the accurate shooter. I was going to do the job.

The reason for cutting off the power supply was so that we could avoid being picked by the CCTV cameras that would trace whatever happened in there back to us.

Clark parked his car and we walked inyo the club of cause not having been checked by the bouncers because they knew both of us. Clark knew where the power supply switch was as he had worked there long enough.

Me: don't take too much time.

Clark: got it.

Clark took a different route frim the one I had taken and I bought some time getting drinks from the bar studying the place and i realized two bouncers standing by faruks door.

I took a mouthful of the whiskey then almost immediately I got a text from Clark saying he was at the power point. I texted back and told him to wait for five seconds and switch it off. Having known where when two guards were standing, I went up the stairs and by the time i was approaching the light went off and I shot randomly at the two guards then opened the door and the room having had some little light in it, i shot Faruk in the head and another bullet in the chest then rushed out immediately ran down the stairs and waited by the bar before the lights came back a few minutes later.

When the light came back, I walked out and headed to Clark's car and I was surprised to find him there already waiting for me.

Clark: did you do it?

Me: yeah.

We drove off to vjays warehouse for our next part of the plan. the roads were not that busy so getting to vjay's wasn't so much of a hustle. We drove in there with our guns ready and having caught the guys off guard, we shot them one at a time having each others backs and looking out for any surprises.

In some corners we threw explosives wanting to take down the place completely and as usual not wanting to leave evidence that we were ever there.

There was massive exchange of fire arms before we got to clear the place

After making sure the place was on fire with everyone in it, we drove off the scene and when we were far away enough from the area Clark pulled over.

Clark: I guess this is it.

Me: yeah, I have no more reason to look over my shoulder. What will you do about the gun?

Clark: I don't know. I don't even know who stole it and why. I think I will leave the country so that whoever has it won't have a reason to use it on me.

Me: what about waridi?

Clark: she likes me but not in that way. She is in love with you and I love her enough to let her go because I want her to be happy and I know you make her happy.

I smiled then gave him a pat on the back.

Me: am sorry man but thanks for everything. Lying low is a good idea at least until the heat cools down.

Clark: yeah but I will attend the burial tomorrow as I say goodbye to waridi and the other lady.

Me: Renee is her name. See you then.

I got out of Clark's car and watched him drive off before I got a cab that took me to Waridi's place for the night.

I knocked on the door and a few minutes later she opened and when she saw me she jumped on me and I carried her to the living room raying her on the couch.

Me: I told you I would be back unharmed

Waridi: shhhhhhh!

She put her finger on my lips then kissed me as she took off my shirt and because I don't want to go into too much detail, I will just say it was a night of it's kind.

The following morning we woke up to the news of a famours club owner having been shot dead by unknown gun men and I was happy to know that I had not missed the target. Waridi and I prepared ourselves and went to the mortuary where all of us were meeting to get the bodies before heading to the cemetery.

At the mortuary we had a short service then prayed for the bodies before leaving for the burial at the cemetery. There wasn't going to be any pastors or relatives because none of them had anything to do with dukes or his mother.

At around 12am we lowered both bodies in the grave and the grave diggers helped us with the burial. It was quit an emotional moment especially for me and Renee but I was so glad that waridi was there with me and Clark showed up too.

Immediately we were done with the burial, we walked to where we had parked our car but before we could get in, a police car showed up and two police men came rushing towards us.

Officer: Mr. Clark Odi,

Clark: yes officers

Officer: you are under arrest for the murder of dukes, Myra and Faruk.

Clark: what?

He asked looking at me who was totally unaware of what was going on.

Officer: we going a gun in the car that belonged to one Mr. Nick Toffy and that gun had both your finger print and faruk's finger print. We found Faruk dead this morning and all fingers are pointing towards you. You are hereby urged to remain silent for everything you say will be used against you in the court of law.

Clark was taken away leaving all of us shocked beyond words. I wasn't shocked that he killed but I was shocked at how everything came back at him when he least expected it. I narrowly escaped that trap and even though I was going to go after him it wasn't a guarantee that he would survive it. I think they also accused him of having killed Faruk because both their finger prints were on the gun but only one was alive to tell what really happened...
