Chapter TenA day later Chevy stood over the kitchen sink with her hands in the sudsy water, washing dishes. A Newport hung from between her thick lips. Once she finished washing off a plate, she sat it aside in the other side of the sink. After washing a few more plates and glasses, she shook the foam from her hands and took a hold of the cigarette, taking a few pulls and polluting the air with white clouds. Hearing the telephone ring, she quickly washed her hands and dried them off with a towel. She picked the cordless phone up and glanced at the caller ID. The screen read: Los Angeles County Facility.
