St. Gregory is a Catholic missionary school, known for its Excellent records in SSCE and also for the strict discipline measures in the school. Many parents or guardians want to send their wards to St. Gregory, even those not of Catholic background do send their kids to the school as the school boast of good records. As a Catholic school, the activities of the chapel as just as important as that of the classroom if not more. Students go to the chapel at least three times a day, that is as much as they go to the dining hall. Like many students in the school, Jalo also prayed to pass the common entrance examination of the school as he would be seen as someone with a bright future. So after jumping many hurdles right from Jss1, Jalo is now the social prefect with a huge void to fill. Waking up after the first night with liberty, Jalo knew he would have to get new pairs of everything, from the bed covers to his uniform and to his under wears as he is now a model to all in the school. For now, he said to himself he'll manage his present pairs of uniform until the school closes for vacation which is just in few days to come. Going to chapel, which is the very first activity of the school. Jalo was mindful of his steps so as not to attract dust on himself, as he'll check all the other students to make sure their all neat. To the defaulters, he punishes as he saw fit. The morning mass was concluded and Jalo started his role naturally like he has been doing that for weeks and it's because of the constant repetition of his role in his head. He himself, was surprised of how composed he was in carrying out his duties. Moving to the assembly that same day together with his best friend Moses, the two friends made sure they were early to the assembly ground as they no longer have to carry out morning chores asides supervision. Moses has been Jalo's best friend right from their primary school days. Their families were both forced to become friends as a result of the closeness between Moses and Jalo. when they were younger, they will even cry to their parents to wear matching outfits. But not now, as they both feel grown and each has his own preference. The only thing that didn't change was their closeness as friends. Apart from that, Jalo loves Art courses while Moses prefers the sciences. Jalo likes basketball and Moses, football. Though they've both made different choices, they still respected each other. Jalo ended up being a prefect and Moses was not as a result of some cases with the disciplinary committee of the school. Moses was a little worried at first as he was not given any post and Jalo was given an important one. Moses wasn't envious, but he was worried because his parents will now compare him to his best friend and he'll have no answer to give them. As the entire students wait for the arrival of the principal and his cabinet, the most seniors were having different conversations while the others remain silent. After the briefing, Fr.John Rotgak who was the principal led his most senior staff to the assembly stage while other members of staff remain behind the students. Fr.John addressed the students after the opening prayer and school anthem led by the Senior prefect. The principal reminded the entire school of the exams coming up next week and the need for students to be serious with their studies. The Assembly was a brief one and all the students dispersed to their different classes.
