Chapter 3

Magnus Errore - A Big Mistake Neonella lay on her bed thinking of the day that has passed. She never knew that she and her friends had the power to enter the Old World. It was frightening and exciting at the same time. She turned on the other side of her bed, more worried than excited for tomorrow’s adventure. Once was already enough for her. However, she knew that Milos and Olethea would want to return to the Old World, and she didn’t have the heart to disappoint her friends. She turned around again, now looking at her frail hands. Who knew that at their age, they would manage to open the door to the old world. She felt tired. Neonella knew that she spent almost all of the power to open the door together with her friends. She continued looking at the palm of her hands. She had a smile on her face when she fell asleep. Milos was also in bed, thrilled and still ecstatic about today’s experience. She was so proud of herself. No one in her family managed to enter the Old World. Even when their elders were still not casted out by the humans, their family were already in Omnia. Her whole clan had always been in Omnia, serving the King and Queen. But now, she is starting to make a difference. If only she could share what happened today with her mother. But she knew that she needed to keep it a secret. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep, looking forward to another day in the Old World together with Neonella and Olethea. Olethea was already fast asleep. She was very tired from today’s adventure with her friends. As much as she would like to deny it, she knew that she was the weakest among the three. She knew that she would not be able to enter the Old World without her friends. But she was thankful as always. And she knew that Neo and Milos would do anything for her, just like how she would do anything for them. ----- Neonella was already waiting under one of the trees surrounding the Silver Rock. They agreed to meet there. It was the closest place to the Edge of the Earth, where the door to the Old World was located. She saw Milos walking, almost running towards her. They waited for several breaths before Olethea arrived. She looked rather pale than she was before. Neonella walked towards her, touching her cheek. “Are you feeling well?” She brushed off the hair covering Olethea’s elf ears, it was burning hot. “You’re sick, you shouldn’t be here.” Her tone almost sounded like she was scolding Olethea. “I am ok Neo, just a little bit tired from helping my mother at home.” Olethea defended herself. Milos was already standing beside her too, looking at her exposed ear. “I think we shouldn't go today,” Milos said. Neo looked at her surprised but was thankful that she didn’t have to argue with her about not going to the Old World. “If we do not go now, it will take a long time before we can go back. The solstice is coming and we are all expected to be helping in the castle.” Olethea argued. We can’t go back until the solstice ends.” She continued, her face flushed. “This is our only time to go,” Olethea added. Milos and Neonella looked at each other, they were definitely not sold with the idea. However, they had no powers against Olethea’s convincing magic, which she was using right now at them. “Olethea, this is not fair,” Neonella looked at her, but her will to refuse is starting to get defeated. “I am feeling well.” Olethea looked at Milos, then to Neo. “If I didn’t I wouldn’t be able to do my magic on you guys right?” She winked, smiling at them. Milos and Neo simultaneously gave a defeated sigh. They had no power over Olethea’s charms. They walked their way to the Edge of the Earth, towards the golden door to the Old World. They made sure that no one would notice that they headed towards one of the most forbidden places in Omnia. When they were sure that no one saw them or followed them towards the door, they began chanting. They managed to open the door again. However, Milos and Neo failed to notice that the process took a toll on Olethea. They were all relieved that they managed to open the door once again and enter the Old World. They entered the same alley where they arrived the first time. This time, they did not have to use magic to change their clothes. They kept the ones that Olethea manifested when they first arrived in the Old World. They immediately went to the pizza restaurant that they visited. They ordered the same food they had before. Olethea was not feeling good but managed to hide whatever she was feeling with the delight in her face as she enjoyed what the Old World offers. Milos brought along a map that she created as their guide to get back to the alley where the portal was located. She scribbled while they walked further, trying to discover new things in the area. They walked past another boutique but didn’t bother to spend a lot of time in the area. They continued walking and saw a specialty store, a bike, and a skateboard store. There were several kids and teens playing around the sidewalk of the store. The three of them stood there, mesmerized as the kids balanced themselves on their bikes and boards, doing tricks with their Old World machinery. Milos knew a lot about wheels but she never saw wheels used for fun like how they did in the Old World. Some of the kids noticed them and started to talk to them. “Hey, you guys are new here.” Said one boy with a green cap. “I’m Lucas by the way.” He introduced himself. “Yes, my cousins and I are just visiting. I am Lia by the way.” Olethea replied to the boy. “You wanna try?” Lucas asked Olethea. Lucas helped Olethea balance on his skateboard. The other boys also offered Neo and Milos to try out their bikes but they gratefully declined. But they did make a good conversation with the boys while watching Olethea attempt to conquer the modern Old World contraption. They had so much fun that they forgot how long they were already in the Old World. When some of the boys were already starting to leave, that was the only time that they noticed that it was already dark. ‘We have to go,” Olethea told Lucas. “I’ll walk you guys to the bus stop, or do you live somewhere in the area?” Lucas asked. “No, our parents are in the bookstore, we will just meet them there,” Milos said. She didn’t fail to notice how Lucas looked at Olethea. He was definitely captivated by their friend's charm. Neonella grabbed Olethea’s wrist and pulled her to walk towards where the alley was located. “Come, we have been here for too long.” She warned Olethea. “Bye Lia,” Lucas shouted. Olethea looked back at Lucas and smiled. “Hurry,” Milos called to Neonella who pulled Olethea to walk faster. When they arrived at the alley, there were people there. They were standing by an old metal drum lit with fire. The three of them looked at each other. “What do we do now?” Neonella looked at her friends and asked.
