The bond ached.
All night, I’d felt Elyse’s distress through the walls she’d thrown up. Felt her pain. Her anger. She's hurt.
But she wouldn’t let me in. Wouldn’t talk to me. Just kept the barriers up like I was the enemy.
*What did we do?* Edward paced restlessly. *What happened?*
“I don’t know. She was fine two days ago. Happy. Excited about her training.”
*Then go to her. Find out what’s wrong.*
I’d tried. All night I’d sent messages through the bond and asked what was wrong. Begged her to talk to me.
