Ronan pov Mother’s room was too quiet when I entered. The healers had left for the morning, and the only sound was her labored breathing. Each inhale seemed to cost her more than the last. She’d been doing better. Just yesterday, she’d been sitting up, eating, talking about the future. Now she was back to this, gray skin, sunken eyes, barely conscious. The sickness always came back.
