CHAPTER NINE Mia jumped back as a voice called, “Who the hell are you?” It sounded almost like a child’s, but the tone was more adult. There was a shuffling inside as someone said, “Come on, Cut, let’s blow this joint.” As she watched, three boys, no more than thirteen or fourteen, in jeans and t-shirts, scrambled out of the opening. They raced past her, on the way toward the front of the trailer park. She could smell the pot on them. “Wait. Guys!” she called after them. They didn’t even pause.
