After they were done eating they went back to the hotel to read the files given to them by Thomas. Asher started reading the files, while Eric got on his laptop to search the database for known creatures in the area to see if any of them match up with what they know so far that is happening at the facility or to see if there are any listed spirits in the area that could be doing this.
Asher starts by reading the file labeled investigation. There are a lot of papers in the folder and as Asher is flipping through the pages to figure out how many pages there are, a flash drive falls out of the folder. The private detective kept very detailed notes about the comings and goings of the villagers in the village north of Wintersville. On the papers the village is called Moonlight. The village to the southeast of Wintersville is called Vanseal and there isn’t much information on it. The private detective focused on Moonlight because they were the ones who were against the building of the facility and caused all the problems in the beginning. Asher stops on a paper detailing why the detective thought the villagers of moonlight were fighting to stop the building of the facility in the first place. In the report the detective had learned the area where the town and facility are built on are vital part of the rituals they do to give homage to their goddess. The area Winters International Corporation built on was the spot where they gathered moon light with their artefact that they believed fed the moon goddess that they worshiped. But, they never had their religion registered as their religion when the government enforced the religion notification act. 20 years ago. The act enforces the law that all people must register what religion they are and what gods and goddess they invoke to keep an eye on the witches from practicing dark magic and to keep all the werewolves and lycans accounted for. The government has had a lot of problems with both witches and werewolves so they keep a very close watch on both of them. It also helps the government make sure that no religions are sacrificing people or causing other problems in the name of their religion.
Asher started to wonder why they would hide their religion from the government and what their goddess was. A lot of dark gods and goddesses eat moonlight to live. But, so does the moon goddess the werewolves pray to. Could the people be dark witches and that's how they summon a vengeful spirit. That it's vengeful because they enslaved a powerful spirit against its will or could it be a dark goddess doing this out of anger for the facility being built on its sacred feeding place. Or is it anger that the people are no longer gathering moonlight for it. Could the moonlight only be gathered from here. If so, why? Asher now has more questions running through his mind now then he did before he started reading.
Asher sighed and got up stretching out his arms and legs, then walking over to his father to see if he had found anything useful.
“Do you have any leads dad?”
Eric finished writing down something on his notepad next to his computer and then looked up at Asher.
“Not really, there are a lot of different event that have happened around here that could cause a soul to become a vengeful spirit. For instance, did you know that a lot of people go missing in this area every year. And those numbers have tripled since this facility was built. A lot of people speculate that there might be an angry woodland guardian in the area. Or that a witch Covent may have summon something really dark and lost control of it. But the most reporting's of missing people in the area come from the village to the north of here called Moonlight.”
“Hmm the Private detective focused most of his research on that village too. He found that they used to collect moonlight for their goddess in this area. But he couldn’t find out what goddess they worshiped or what their religion was. Weirder than that though was he found out they aren’t registered as having a religion at all.”
“How could they be registered as not having a religion? The religion registration act forced all people in this country to have to register as some sort of religion even as non religious. You can't not be registered. The government will arrest you for that.”
“That's what I thought too, but the private detective couldn’t find an religious registration for any of the people in the village. But he also had a hard time finding anything about the village in any government paperwork. He even made a note how on paper the village doesn’t really exist to the government and how outside of paying taxes there is nothing for the village. That it doesn’t have an elected government representative or a government building for it. He thinks they must be hiding something to have no government data or any sort of information with the government. And to be honest I think he is probably right. They must be up to some sketchy stuff to keep everything so hidden from the outside world and to not have the area they do there rituals as being listed as a sacred place. They have to be up to some bad stuff to keep everything hidden from the government and I want to bet that they are the ones behind all of the bad stuff happening in the area. Maybe they are a village of dark witches that angered a dark goddess by not feeding it moonlight any more and it is now taking its revenge on the facility for messing with its food source.”
“I don’t think we should jump to conclusions before we have all the facts, but it does seem like they must be up to something to be try so hard to keep the government from knowing things and to go to such lengths with trying to stop the building of this facility. After we see the facility we should definitely check out this village.”
