Chapter 3: Shocking Recognition

1306 Words
(Sienna POV) My hands wouldn’t stop shaking as Mom helped me zip up the conservative navy blue dress. It fell modestly to my knees, with a high neckline and long sleeves—the perfect armor for a woman about to be sold. “You look respectable,” Mom said quietly, smoothing invisible wrinkles from my shoulders. Her eyes were red-rimmed from another night of crying. “This is what your father wanted, Sienna. He wouldn’t have signed that contract if he didn’t believe it would save us.” I stared at my reflection. Respectable. That was the word. Not powerful. Not free. Just… acceptable. The diamond earrings I’d worn last night were gone—one lost somewhere in a stranger’s penthouse. A secret reminder of my rebellion now sitting in some rich man’s drawer. “I know, Mom,” I whispered. The car ride to Harrington Shipping headquarters felt like a funeral procession. Tall glass buildings loomed over Midtown as we approached the familiar tower my father had built from nothing. Today it felt like a cage waiting to close around me. The Executive Floor My stomach twisted the entire elevator ride up to the executive floor. When the doors opened, my uncle Richard was already waiting, looking stressed in his ill-fitting suit. “They’re here,” he said in a low voice. “The Emir and his entire team. Try to smile, Sienna. This merger is our only lifeline.” I followed him down the long corridor, heels clicking against the marble floor. My heart hammered so loudly I was sure everyone could hear it. I kept replaying last night in flashes—strong hands gripping my hips, a deep accented voice commanding me to come, the feeling of being completely, deliciously filled. Heat crept up my neck at the memory. I shook my head. Focus. Uncle Richard pushed open the heavy double doors to the main conference room. “Gentlemen,” he announced, “may I present Sienna Harrington.” The Confrontation I stepped inside. And the world stopped. Sitting at the head of the long mahogany table, flanked by men in expensive suits, was him. Hasan. My stranger from last night. Our eyes locked instantly. His dark gaze widened for a fraction of a second—the only crack in his composed mask—before something dangerous and possessive flared in them. My breath caught in my throat. Memories crashed over me like a wave: his mouth on my breasts, the way he had pinned me down and thrust deep, the guttural groan he made when he came inside me. Heat flooded between my thighs. My cheeks burned. I felt exposed, naked all over again, even though I was fully clothed. He looked every inch the powerful ruler in his charcoal suit, broad shoulders filling the chair with natural authority. His jaw was tight, fingers resting on the table as if he was physically stopping himself from standing up. “Sienna,” he said, his deep, accented voice rolling over my name like velvet and smoke. It sent a shiver straight down my spine. I couldn’t speak. My legs felt weak. Uncle Richard cleared his throat awkwardly, completely unaware of the storm raging between us. “Emir Rafiq, this is my niece, Sienna Harrington. Thomas’s only daughter and the future face of the company.” Hasan rose slowly from his chair, all six-foot-something of commanding presence. The men around him stood as well, but I barely noticed them. His eyes never left mine as he gave a small, formal nod. “Miss Harrington,” he said smoothly. “My deepest condolences for your father. He was a good man. A true partner.” The way he said “partner” made my core clench involuntarily. I remembered how he had growled “mine” against my neck while driving into me from behind. I pressed my thighs together, furious at my body’s betrayal. “Thank you,” I managed, my voice barely steady. The Alliance Terms We all took our seats. I sat directly across from him, painfully aware of every glance he sent my way. Under the table, my hands twisted together in my lap. How was this possible? The man I had used for one night of rebellion—the man whose touch still lingered on my skin—was the same monster my father had sold me to? The meeting began with financial presentations, merger details, and talk of port expansions. I barely heard any of it. All I could focus on was Hasan watching me. His gaze was intense, burning, as if he were undressing me right there in front of everyone. Uncle Richard suddenly spoke up, his tone nervous but hopeful. “Emir Rafiq, we heard rumors from your legal team that you were considering… canceling the marriage portion of the agreement. We understand if that’s the case. We’re open to discussing generous compensation for breaking the contract.” The room went deathly silent. My heart stopped. Hasan leaned back in his chair, a slow, controlled smile touching his lips. His eyes flicked to me for a brief, scorching second before returning to my uncle. “I believe my lawyer was… premature in those discussions,” he said, his voice calm and authoritative. “I have decided to honor the wishes of my late friend, Thomas Harrington. He wanted this alliance. He wanted stability for his family and his company. I intend to see that through.” He gestured to one of his aides, who brought forward several elegantly wrapped boxes and placed them on the table. “Gifts,” Hasan continued, “for Miss Harrington and the family. A small token of my commitment moving forward.” I stared at the boxes, then back at him. My mind was spinning. He had wanted to cancel. He had told his lawyer that. And now, after last night, after I ran from his bed… he suddenly wanted to proceed? Anger rose hot and sharp in my chest, mixing dangerously with the arousal still pulsing between my legs. One of his aides opened the largest box, revealing an exquisite set of jewelry—diamonds and emeralds. I felt sick. Hasan’s dark eyes met mine again, holding them captive. There was heat there. Possession. And something deeper I couldn’t quite read. “Miss Harrington,” he said smoothly, addressing me directly in front of everyone. “I believe we should discuss certain… personal terms of this arrangement in private. If you will allow me a few moments alone with my future wife.” Future wife. The word sent ice down my spine even as my body remembered every filthy thing he had done to me. My uncle looked relieved. “Of course, Emir. We’ll give you the room.” Alone Everyone stood and began filing out. I remained frozen in my seat until the door clicked shut, leaving only the two of us in the large conference room. The silence was deafening. Hasan walked around the table slowly, like a predator approaching prey. He stopped just inches away from me, towering over my seated form. Up close, I could smell his cologne—sandalwood and power—the same scent that had been all over my body last night. “You,” I whispered, voice shaking with fury and disbelief. “It was you all along.” He leaned down, placing one large hand on the back of my chair, caging me in. “Yes,” he said, voice low and rough. “And you ran from me this morning, Sienna.” His breath brushed my ear. The memories flooded back stronger than ever—his thick c**k stretching me, his hands pinning my wrists, the way I had begged him not to stop. I was in so much trouble.
