Behind the Club

As he stood near the back door, or what he assumed was the door she meant, he couldn't help feeling nervous and overwhelmed. He found her, and even if she didn't remember him, she wanted to see him more. He began pacing while he was waiting, getting more and more anxious every second. How long had it been since the note? He wished he had a timepiece. He felt like this was taking forever. Then suddenly with a loud crash, the back door opened. At the time his back was to the door and as he began to to turn, he felt himself being shoved against the opposite wall. "Do you remember me? What you did to me? How you destroyed my life?" she cried, tears streaming down her cheeks which were puffed out from the effort. He was like a living stone, and even with her strength she found it difficult to move him. If he hadn't been turned she would have never managed it. In shock, all he could do was stand and let himself be pushed into the wall. He was afraid that if he moved or spoke it would end worse than it already had. He also felt sadness washing over him in ways he had never felt, not even when he had to destroy his young children. This was the worst thing he had ever felt. Why did he think when he found her she would be open to him? Why didn't he realize that her anger was not at her people but at him for what he had done? All these years he thought she was a wonderous creation and now he knew the bitter truth. It was she who had killed all the vampires because she hated what she had become at his hands. How could he ever fix this and be with her? He felt the pressure against his back slowly lift, and he knew she was letting up on him, but he feared the purpose. Once she was back far enough he could move, he slowly began to turn so as to not startle her into attacking again. As he looked at her face in the dimly lit alleyway, all he could see was her pain and suffering. How all those years left her cold and alone. Suddenly he dropped to his knees, startling her back a few paces, "I am so sorry for what I have done to you, I never meant to. I was curious about the Fae and when I got close to you, your scent was intoxicating. I had never experienced anything like it before or since. Please I know what I have done is terrible and while I know you could never forgive, give me a chance to know what all I have done to you. For I cannot begin to atone without knowing completely how I have wronged you. This existence is all I have ever known, I came into being as what I am now. What were you before I did this horrendous thing." She had not expected this. She was taken aback by his boldness. Should she let him know? Could she remember her time among her people? No, she did not want to see him for him to know all he had done. But how could he understand if she did not share? He didn't seem to ask much. And now he may be on guard watching for another attack. She would have to be more careful. She didn't fully understand why she hesitated and didn't kill him straight out as she had always planned, but she now knew she must find out why, and sort out these conflicting feelings in her heart and mind. But where to start? "Where do you live" as tentatively asked. It must not be close by or he would have some sort of funds and not have to resort to stealing. "On a mountain about a night run from here, well at least for me, my children cannot run as fast as I do" he replied slowly, he wanted this to last as long as possible, "Would you like to return to my home so that we can talk". He suddenly realized his mistake. What if he was moving too fast? Surely she would see that as a bad sign and run away. "Not just yet", she replied cooly, "how many other vampires are there, I've noticed your kind tends to live in groups". "About 300, that is almost all that is left since someone has been killing my children. I am only here to investigate their deaths. It seems I am always too late to help them." "I am the one who has been killing the Vampires. I hate your kind. I hate what they do. Feeding and killing the poor humans. And these were not even discreet. If I hadn't stopped them, the humans would have soon discovered them. All those bodies they left in their house. I'm surprised the neighbors hadn't called the authorities." She exclaimed. "Why do you keep saying my kind? Are you not also one of us? Do you not feed like we do? Do you not hide from the light?" he asked amazed by her disdain. "I am like you but also more. I am not just a Vampire, I am also a fae, and I am the perfect mixture of both. I hate to feed and try to put it off as long as possible because while I care not for the humans I do see them as more than walking food bags." She scoffed, this should have been obvious to him. She still glowed with the warmth of her people, she could see it and feel it. It was also a beacon to the rest of her people, making it difficult to hide from them. She kept to herself the part about feeding making the beacon stronger and eaiser to find. She couldn't give him too much information until she decided to kill him.
