That night three years ago, I'll never forget it.
It was the first full moon after my eighteenth birthday.
By werewolf tradition, that was the night you found your fated mate.
The Moon Goddess seemed to hear my prayers.
The moment I stepped into the pack's largest bar, a scent hit me like a wave something that made every cell in my body light up.
My wolf, Selene, went absolutely wild.
"Mate! Mate!" She was howling in my head, spinning in circles. "That's our mate!"
I followed the scent with my eyes.
There, at the center of the crowd, the pack heir , Ethan was laughing with a group of men. Dark brown hair, amber eyes, broad shoulders that commanded every room he walked into.
And at that exact moment, he turned around.
Our eyes met across the noise.
His eyes shifted to gold instantly.
Wolf eyes.
"It's him," Selene confirmed. "The Moon Goddess chose him for us."
My heart pounded. My palms went damp.
Ethan walked toward me, and with every step, my pulse jumped faster.
He stopped in front of me, looking down.
"You're Elena Grey?" His voice was low and unhurried.
I nodded. I couldn't speak.
"You smell it?" he asked.
"Yes." I managed a whisper. "Pine. Cedar."
Something complicated passed through his eyes , there and gone in an instant.
"Come with me."
He turned and walked toward the garden outside. I followed.
Selene was doing happy loops in my head.
"Are we going to be marked? Are we going to be Luna?"
I didn't answer her.
Because when we reached the far end of the garden, Ethan stopped.
He turned around.
His face was cold in a way that made my stomach drop.
