"I don't know what you're talking about, Timmy," I said, my voice trembling. I couldn't meet his eyes, so I stared out the window instead. "Why can't you just answer me, Barbara?" he demanded, his voice icy. "I don't understand what you're asking," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
