ELIJAH ELIJAH The silence in the car was suffocating. Adriana sat beside me, face turned toward the window, lost in her own thoughts. Hazel drove, occasionally glancing at me through the rearview mirror. Every time I tried to think of something to say, my mind went completely blank.
