After I left Nathan I went directly to my apartment. Thinking about my old life like that, I was pretty naive to believe that Nathan would love me and that Victoria would be my friend. The sad thing was that I felt sorry for myself for trusting those who had hurt me the most in the end.
When I got home I went to my room to see if he was awake, but I saw an empty bed in front of me. So the person on the phone had picked him up. At least he was a little relieved that he was okay. I saw a note on my bedside table.
Note: Thank you for taking care of me. I have your bracelet with me, if you want it back then come to this address that I wrote below.
He also had the nerve to order me over to him. On top of that, he asked for my bracelet, which I loved to wear. Asshole! I got excited for a few minutes. I calmed down afterward. It had been a very long day. The whole thing was too much for me. I was too tired to deal with that now. I changed into my pajamas and went to lay on my bed. Before dose of I had one thought I hoped that the next day would be a good day for me.
The next morning I woke up to the rays of the sun shining through the window in my room and the ringing of my alarm clock. I slowly opened my eyes. I looked around the room and remembered yesterday's events. I wondered who he was. I would find out today anyway if I got my bracelet back.
I made my way to him. Because today I had an incredible amount to do if I had all the things to do today.
When I reached his home I could see that he lived in a penthouse. He must be damn rich to afford something like this. I went to the receptionist in the foyer to find out whether he was there or not. From the look of the receptionist, she was around thirty in age and unmarried, but she looked a bit younger what I would guess that she used her chance to throw herself at rich men.
How shameful. She had pinned up her blond hair into a bun that made her face a point that full of make-up is not excessive, but still a bit much for her age. Her brown eyes looked at me with disdain as she told the person that I was there. Her body had the shape of a model, her height was 5'5ft.
"Mr. Cartwright can see you. Take the elevator to the forty-sixth floor. Right side then straight out. Number 3276." She practically forced herself to be polite to me, which she does very poorly.
She would love to jump on me and kill me right away. I threw aside my thoughts about her. I went to the elevator and pressed the button in the elevator to the forty-sixth floor.
In the elevator, it occurred to me why this so-called Mr. Cardright had taken my bracelet. I didn't want anything from him, I had only taken care of his wound out of humanity.
Arrived on the forty-sixth floor, I got off the elevator, turned on the right side, then went straight ahead to penthouse number 3276. I rang the doorbell and waited until someone opened the door for me. The door was opened by a young man with black hair and brown eyes in a gray suit.
He was 6'ft tall. In terms of age, I would estimate him to be between thirty and thirty. "What do you want!" he spoke to the opposite with an annoyed look he looked at me. He must be his secretary or something like that.
"I'm here to pick up my bracelet," I spoke to him equally in the same tone. Which surprised him a little.
"Should I wait here all day or will you let me in?" He just stood in front of the door blocking the way in. So, if I'm supposed to wait here all day then I can go home again. I had come for free, but then again, I wanted my bracelet back. So I had no other choice.
"Let her in!"
I heard someone in the penthouse. It must be the person I treat his wound. His secretary let me in closed the door behind me. He led me into the living room where he was waiting for me, I could feel his gaze on me as I walked towards him.
He looked me up and down my long auburn hair that reached down to my bottom, my ocean blue eyes that could see the depths of the ocean when you looked deep into the eyes and my height was 5'8 ft.
I felt I was a bit small towards him but did not try to show him my fear, which I succeeded in doing. His emerald green eyes sparkled in the light of the living room and his full hair came down to the nape of the neck.
His size could be intimidating if he were angry. It was estimated to be 6'9ft tall. He looked handsome and was every woman's dream. I focused back on the reason I was here.
"So Mr. Anonymous can I get to know your real name or do I have to find it out by myself," he gestured to me to sit when I spoke confidently. I stood cautious towards him because I didn't know what he would do in his next moves and what he thought. "I think it is at least what you can know." He smiled at me.
He looked dashing when he smiled. I came to myself out of the trance that I was. "Ren Cartwright." I was shocked when I heard his name. What the hell! He was one of the richest billionaires in the states.
To have a meeting was like a golden ticket for someone. I didn't know what to say at first but now that I know who he was I should stay away from him because someone like him had a person he liked.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Cartwright." I tried to be polite to him. He looked at me with interest as if I were an interesting object that he could study all day. I stayed under his gaze, unaffected by his gaze, I stared back at him.
"My name is Amelia Golding." I introduced myself to him.
At least he should know my name. The corner of the right mouth curled up. "I know who you are, Miss Henderson. You don't have to use false names like that."
I beg your pardon?
What did he mean that I shouldn't introduce myself by a false name. He hadn't had a thorough investigation, otherwise, he would know that my name was not Henderson for a week, but Golding. I said it to him firmly.
"I'm not using a false name, Mr. Cartright. Golding is my last name and not Henderson. They haven't figured out thoroughly that I've got my real surname back." I talked fiercely to him. He looked first at me then at his secretary. Somehow I had the feeling that he was unattained that information had not been received.
But I should not forget why I came here. I looked at him while he was discussing something with his secretary. Then the secretary withdrew, leaving Mr. Cartwright and me alone. He paid his attention to me again when we were alone in the room.
"I think we can talk now freely." He smiled at me with a handsome charisma that every woman would fall for. But for me, it wasn't the case. I chuckled at his comment and went back to be serious again. He was now serious.
His secretary came with drinks in out it on the coffee table then left again. We were starting to each other for a while, but then I took the initiative first. "Why did you live by the Henderson family when you changed your surname?" he was curious about my leave from the Henderson household.
What the f**k!
Why would he want to know the reason? I just could not get why he wanted to know about it. He was irritating me right now.
"The reason doesn't matter. I left that's it." was my answer. Quick and short, there wasn't more than that. I should steer the conversation in a different direction, otherwise, I would stay here until evening. "We should talk the why I am here." I guessed that he was thinking about what he should say.
"I am here to get my bracelet back," I added after that. I knew that he was trying to get me to stay here but that was not on my agenda. I didn't have too much time like him, so I had to speed up the process of our conversation as soon as possible.
He chuckled about my reason. This took me too much energy to get along with him at this moment. He got up left the living room and left me alone. Where did he go now?
Before I could ponder any further, he came back with a box. He handed me the box and looked at him skeptically. I took the box then opened it. In the box was my bracelet.
"Thanks," I replied to him. I put the box into my purse. Since I had my bracelet back it was time to go. I stood up to say goodbye.
"Mr. Cartwright, thank you for the warm welcome, and since I have my bracelet back. I should go now." I said humbly.
I headed for the door to you was immediately held open by a hand that I was from him. I looked up at him "please don't go. I would like to talk to you." Something in his gaze held me tight as if I were his captive. I was very busy today. What should I do now? Unsure about the decision, I didn't know how to answer him.
"I'm sorry Mr. Cartwright but I don't have free time. It was a pleasure to meet you. Have a nice day." I talked to them without any stuttering in my voice. I was so nervous right now to deny his offer. Anyone would kill to get this chance but I on the other hand turned it down. Then I left his penthouse.
Ren Cartwright
I couldn't believe that this woman would turn my offer down. Anyone who would kill to get this chance to talk to me be it business or private. But this woman just left without even thinking twice to hear me out. She was only here because of the bracelet that I took from her yesterday.
I was thankful to her that she helped me out of the situation that I was also treated for my wound. I could tell she was not an easy person when left the Henderson household. I was in my thoughts when Carter came he cleared his throat to get my attention. I looked at him "what is it? Did have you find out anything?"
I wanted to know everything that he found out about her. She was gorgeous and elegant and not fake like other women that were throwing themselves at me. She had something that was attracting me to her.
"I found out that the Henderson family throw her out of their home because they quarreled with each other. So Miss Henderson left the house." That was the basic information that he got when he investigated her but I wanted to know more about her.
"Is that everything that you found out." There should be more about her and the Hendersons. Carter nodded at my question. "There is more. I found out that Miss Henderson is not the biological daughter of the Hendersons, she was adopted five years ago by Mr. and Mrs. Henderson. She was since then Nathan Henderson's sister but it is said that the two of them fell in love secretly but it was found out by his parents and that is why they engaged Nathan to Victoria Lambert, Miss Henderson's close friend. A week ago there was an accident at the engagement party and she fell into the pool. I asked the workers and they said that the sister of Victoria Lambert had nudged her. Since that accident, Miss Henderson changed suddenly."
Changed suddenly?
How could she change?
Could it be because the person she loved was not hers anymore?
Or was it because she couldn't handle it anymore that Nathan Henderson was together with Victoria Lambert?
Are these resources reliable that he found?
"How can someone change after she fell into the pool?" I was curious about that but what was more interesting was that she was different than everybody said in the rumors. In the rumors about her was said that she was someone who seduces men and boys to get someone into her bed or to sleep with them to get a job. But it turned out that everything that was said in rumors was lies.
"I talked with the doctor, sir. He said that miss Henderson nearly drowned in the pool and that her heart stopped three times on the way to the hospital. After that incident, she was calm and cold. Since then she left the house and started to live alone again." He added the last information that I needed to know.
Now that I got every information about her I looked at her picture and I tried to think of a way how to use this knowledge about her to thank her in a way. I had to find something abruptly her two diplomas got my attention. Of course! This idea is good but I had to work on it that she could not reject it in any way again.
Amelia
I had left Ren Cartwright's penthouse after I got my bracelet back. I didn't worry about him for the rest of the day. I focused on my work. I worked on the fine-tuning of the designs that had to be finished until the booty. When I was done with the project of HJ Group I directly brought it to them. We worked the little things out together. The head designer, Celia Brown, and I then looked at the results of the jewels that were done for the release of the gala event.
"It was a pleasure to work with you, Miss Gardiner." I bit my goodbye after working with that long. I had so many good times working in this company and working with her as one of the best designers. "It was a pleasure to work with you too, Miss Golding." We shook our hands for good terms and bit our goodbye to each other. The last project was done too plus I got my payment for both projects, which made me happy after so long of unhappiness.
It was Saturday night the night of the gala event of HJ Group. I wore an emerald green evening dress that had an A-line and its fabric flattered my figure. I had my reddish-brown hair loose and wavy sideways on the left side of the shoulder. My make-up was kept simple and natural which brought out my ice blue eyes.
I was standing on one of the tables with the head designer from HJ Group we were talking with the rest of the teams and were enjoying the night. Everyone was appreciating the gala, where you could see famous and important people. And one of the people was from the Hendersons.
Nathan Henderson.
Nathan was here with his b***h of fiancee. He wore black smoking. Victoria wore a bright red dress that was revealing most of her back and chest. What did she want to say when she was dressed like? That she was a w***e or that she was a lady of a rich family. I thought that there was no difference. She was always a b***h will be still a b***h.
Luckily I didn't have to spend time with her anymore, I just wanted to be far away as far as I could. I ignored them for the rest of the gala. I was happy that they did not saw me until now. But my luck did not hold up till the end of the night because they saw me.
Shit!
Victoria was starting to head to me but before she could come with Nathan to me Celia Brown came to me. "There is a problem. Come with me!" she whispered to my ear then we went backstage to look at what had happened. We saw the staff there panicked and did not know what to do.
I breathed in and out to calm down before I went to them to handle the problem to solve it. "What happened?" I asked them all. No one didn't know what to say or they were afraid if they say anything then they would get scolded by Celia and me.
"We don't know what happened but somehow the jewel that Miss Golding has designed was not there anymore." a brown-haired girl with brown eyes and a petite figure explained the whole situation. What the hell! Was that a joke!
"Did you looked at the surveillance cameras who was the last person here?" Celia was now worried that the important part of the gala event went missing without anyone's knowledge. I thought about something when we were going to the security room where all things were recorded.
Flashback
I got a note before I went to the gala event from a person that sent it. I looked at the note and was shocked by what was written in it.
Note: Did you thought you could leave both of us before paying without the price? You can never free yourself before you apologize to me for what you have done to me. Because of you, I fell.
Kiss V.
flashback ends
Now I knew who did it. Victoria. That b***h! She tried to ruin the night. And in the surveillance cameras, you could what was going on. Then we saw it. We could see how Victoria came, act normal in front of everyone but she didn't say that in the room where the jewels were kept would also be surveillance cameras. It was her. It was her.
"This woman looks like Victoria Lambert. I can not believe that." Celia said. I shouldn't be shocked but I was still shocked because I didn't think that she would ruin some company's gala. "That b***h!"
Celia looked at me surprised that I would curse and my behavior when I saw who it was. "Amelia, do you know Victoria Lambert?" now Celia was curious about my relationship with Victoria. I didn't have any choice than to say the truth besides I didn't like to lie to someone I am working with. I nodded to answer her question.
"I told you my story of how I was treated by my adoptive family." She nodded about it when she remembered what I told her about it. "I left that house after Victoria put herself as a victim in front of the Henderson family and everyone in the believed her when she had claimed that I hadn't purposely pushed her off the stairs, which wasn't true. She fell off the stairs herself. Since that day I left that house and changed my name to Golding again." I explained to her the rest of the story.
She was surprised by what I told her about what happened to me and also showed her the evidence that I got myself before I left.
"What should we do now?" I thought of it for a few minutes then something fell into my mind. "This one was just a dummy of the exact jewelry that we designed." When Celia knew what I was talking she made a quick call to her assistant. She talked to her for a bit then ended the call afterward.
"Let's go, Amelia! We have a show to present." With that confidence that she had, we went backstage again where Celia's assistant was waiting for us. She had already brought the jewelry set that I designed, which we put on the model that was a famous model and actress. She was a teenage girl's idol, her name was Freya Galveston.
Freya went on stage, where we stayed backstage to see Victoria's reaction. Celia and I saw how Victoria's expression went from a satisfied smile to an ugly expression. That was funny. Did she think that she could get away with what she did? In her dreams.
Afterward, the gala event went successful with the remaining of the new collection of the jewelry of HJ Group. That was a wrap for the night. We bit our goodbye to each other then left to go home.
When I was waiting for a taxi I heard a familiar voice that I knew. I turned around where I saw him. Ren Cartwright. He was standing in front of me looking handsome.
"Did you had a delightful night, Miss Golding?"
