JASMINE

WILLIAM I drove to my mansion and on detecting the presence of my car, the large iron door flew open. I saw the awe in the lady's eyes when she saw this. I drove inside and the gates closed behind us. I had built a manor for myself during the last century and made sure it was as fortified as it could possibly be. I did not want nosy humans learning of my secret. I parked the car at the front of the house and Mr and Mrs Hudson quickly came down to attend to us. They were humans I met during the previous century and after a very fated accident, they found out the truth about what I was. But they never spoke a word to a single soul and since then, I kept them close. They were the closest thing I had to a family and I made sure their daughter who was studying Theatre Arts in the university was well taken care of. They served me diligently and never for once loathed me for what I was. "Welcome sir." Mr Hudson said to me. Then he saw the lady coming out of the car and his eyes opened. And I knew why. I had a large painting of Bianca in my room. I told them who she was to me and how the mage had come and when he saw the supposed dead lover of mine, he was startled for a moment, and so was his wife. "Mr Hudson, we have a guest for tonight. See it to that she is well taken care of." I said to him and he quickly nodded. "I am not staying for the night. I only need to make a phone call and I will be on my way." The lady said to us. I did not blame her. It was only natural for her to be wary of a stranger even though I had saved her life. And I was running out of things to say but fortunately, Mrs Hudson quickly stepped in. She had noticed this and I couldn't be more grateful. "We would love to have you with us tonight dear. Why don't you let me make you a cup of Jasmine tea? I have a feeling it is your favorite." The lady smiled softly. So she had the same tea preference with Bianca. Fascinating. She then slowly followed Mrs Hudson inside and sent me a quick look as she did. Mr Hudson followed and then I did. The lady was soon sitted in my dining table with a cup of tea in her hands. She caught me looking at her but she did not say anything. Then her eyes stylishly roamed the interior of the house and she was impressed. I felt proud. "You have a nice place." She finally commented as she took her sips of the tea. "Thank you. But it does not compare to your elegance." I said to her and she blushed "Now you are being too kind." "Too kind would mean that I am telling a lie. And I do not do such. I only say what my eyes sees and trust me, they see more than most humans do." I said and strangely, she found humour in this. "My name is William Bancroft. What is your name?" "Lisa Shane." "Pleased to meet you Lisa." "The pleasure is mine Sir William. Can I use your phone now?" She asked me and without hesitation, I gave her my phone. She excused herself for a while and headed towards the window to make a phone call. She did not take long but it seemed to take forever for me. I wanted her close. The desire to have her close was like an itch. When she was done, she gave the phone back and took her purse. she was ready to leave. "Why don't you stay for the night? I have plenty of rooms and from the look of things, you cannot actually do much now that it's raining." I did not notice the rain at first till she went to make a call. She sighed, defeated. Her eyes seemed to ponder whether she should trust me or not. She did not strike me like one who would relent, she might even decide to head into the rain and find her way home. But there was no way I would allow that. "Do not worry. You are safe here. I will not let anything happen to you." I quickly jumped in and reassured her. "Why are you being so nice to me?" She asked and yet again, her eyes were glistening. "I feel like we have known each other forever. I am drawn to you. And I think the universe really wants us to stay together tonight." She was about to speak when Mrs Hudson suddenly placed a large chicken on the table. It was prepared exactly how Bianca loved it. I had told them about that too and from the look on Lisa's face, she was already familiar with the delicacy. "Please come to the table ma'am. Your meal is ready. You must be hungry." Mrs Hudson said in her beautiful soprano voice. "I don't think I should..." Lisa started but I quickly cut her off. "No need to be modest. Please have some if you desire. I am sure it would make Mrs Hudson, and the rest of us very happy." she sighed and then smiled softly. "I guess a bite won't kill." She said as she settled the purse down. "it certainly wouldn't." I said and nodded to Mrs Hudson who immediately dashed out to give us some privacy. "There is something I really want to share with you, but I do not know how you'll take it." I said to her and she stopped eating and looked looked at me. "By chance, do you remember me?" I asked her and a confused look swept over her face. "I do not think I've seen you before today William. Have we met before?" she asked me and proceeded to take sips from the cup of tea. "I believe we have. In a past life, you were my wife." I did not know how else to say it but none the less, it was going to be weird no matter how I tried. But she did not take it seriously. "You're quite talented with jokes. is this some sort of punchline?" she said and smiled. "I'm afraid it isn't. I'm serious." I said and the smile on her face suddenly faded. She just fixed her gaze on me and suddenly jerked up. "Who sent you?" she fumed, however, I did not understand what she was talking about. "I don't quite follow..." "Tell me who sent you! Tell me now!" she took a couple steps back as I stood and I could see the fear in her eyes. She grabbed her purse defensively and the warm atmosphere which I had managed to build suddenly became cold. But while I thought about it, I did not seem to comprehend the reason for the outburst. What exactly was she talking about?
