SELFLESS When I opened my eyes, we were back on earth but in an unfamiliar location. I pushed from Val’s arms, observing the landscape. I was disoriented to where we had landed. I was inclined to think Val had dropped us off in the middle of a deserted island. Only the white sanded beach and blue water were MIA. Of course, when were beaches enwreathed in a dense forest surrounded by Cypress trees and low hanging Spanish moss? I counted several ragged tents dotting the grounds and the aroma of burning wood irritated my eyes. People were roaming about, chattering, gathering wood… busy as bees. The day was near its end. The golden sun was slipping behind the trees and twilight had blanketed the forest. I closed my eyes and drew in the warm air. It smelled like honeysuckle on a lazy summer
