10 They stood behind Detective Keating as he knocked on Maureen’s door. Another girl, Ginny recognized as one she’d seen playing cards, answered, keeping the door partly closed. “I am here to see Maureen Vix,” Detective Keating said with a clearing of his throat. “Maureen, you have some visitors. I think one of them is a policeman,” the girl spoke to Maureen inside. Ginny heard Maureen yawning. “You can let them in, Cecilia.” Cecilia, a plump, black-haired girl, opened the door all the way.
