17 The late night had turned into early morning. Ginny thought about resting for a while but changed her clothes instead and went to go see Maureen in second class. Ginny knocked on the girl’s cabin, and Maureen opened the door. “I apologize for it being so early,” Ginny said. “It’s all right, I’ve been up reading. The other girls are still asleep.” She spoke to Ginny while holding the door open and had a book in her other hand. “I wanted to tell you myself as soon as I heard—we’re no longer under suspicion, according to Detective Keating.” Maureen dropped her book to the ground in shock, and one of the girls stirred in the room.
