His body is shaking from the strain and his vision is blurring, he lists slightly in his hovering and he’s afraid he might fall but he’s more afraid of the giant shark about to kill him so he just pushes harder, harder until there’s just those teeth and his desire to keep them from the city he loves, from the people he loves, from the man he hopes he might come to love, and who might come to love him. And she stops. And there’s a feeling like the cosmos unzipping, a wrenching tear that almost feels like it’s in his head but it’s not. It’s in hers and she’s finally stopped, mouth agape, a still frame and then she collapses in on herself, the speed of everything almost unbelievable, so that if you were watching from the city skyscrapers and blinked, maybe you missed it. But Gravity catches
