Let's Get Married.

Kate’s POV I stood at the kitchen counter top, listening as Jack closed the door behind me, and made his way to the kitchen. Before me sat all sorts of drinks, white wine, red wide, coke, dr pepper, chiraz and other liquids, I tried not to screw my nose at the display, when I saw a glass away from the others, I hesitantly picked it up and smelt it, sweet smelling whiskey met my nose, amongst the coke. I was mid sip, when I heard Mr Worth grumble. “Where the hell did my drink go?” I swallowed, turning my head to him, his eyes dropped to the glass in my hand, I watched as his jaw fell open. “My-my drink..” He stutter, I blinked looking down to the glass in my hand. “What? So you were going to pawn off shitty wine and keep the whiskey for yourself?” I said shortly, as I scanned the bench and found none of my desired drink. “Well I didn’t see you.. I’ve never had a woman over who’s asked for..um..whiskey they all drink red’s usually..” he trailed off, a blush on his cheeks, he narrowed his eyes at me and I shrug. “Well don’t assume next time, they are probably too polite to ask..” I say pushing the point, that I was not. Mr Worth nodded, leaving me in the kitchen he disappeared into the room adjacent, returning with a bottle of amber liquid in a decanter and another glass, a smile on his face. He poured the whiskey in cracking a can of coke, he filled his glass and topped mine, then raised it in cheers. “To never assuming anything about you again..” He said, his voice low and smug, eyes flashing dangerously, I lifted my glass and my chin. “To never assuming anything.” I replied, clinking the glasses, I could feel the heat rising in the room.   Jack Worth’s POV I lifted my glass to my lips but couldn’t help but watch Kate’s glass touch hers, the liquid coating them shiny and wet. I closed my eyes, tasting the sweet drink slowly, letting it roll over my tougue and down into my stomach. But I knew that I wanted to savour this moment, before the conversations ahead. I opened my eyes, finding a far away look on Kate’s face, her eyes looking out over the city as mine had done only an hour ago, something nagged at her and I was about to ask, when she looked back at me, speaking first. “Where do you want to sit down?” She says causally, taking me by surprise as usual. I smirk at her clear reluctance to stay written on her face. “This way to the lounge, I’ll met you in there in just a moment.” I say, she nods, raising her chin, she heads off, her heeled boots, echoing as she goes. I slump a little, I had hoped to come up with something else, but when I could not, I could only hope she would agree.   Kate’s POV I entered the lounge, it was massive, a 80-inch  Tv took up most of one wall, causing me to do a double take, a large L shaped couch wrapped around the adjoined wall and out into the room, fluffy throw blankets folded neatly on the back on the couch. I looked around at the crisp white walls almost blinded, nothing had prepared me for such a room, a large painting of a black horse also hung on another wall, but the outwall was almost completely glass, I frowned at that, not to my taste, I began to close the blinds. “What are you doing?” Mr Worth asked from behind me, I froze, looking at him, I shrugged. “I don’t like the idea of people looking in.” I said, countining to close the blinds. “People looking in? On the 6th floor?” He says, his voice bewildered and suspicious. “You never know, not when you’re hanging out with this weeks hot ticket exclusive.” I shrug in response, I slide my gaze to where Mr Worth stands after receiving no reply. I watch how his eyelids shutter, as he takes in a deep breath. “That’s why I wanted to you tonight actually..” He says, capturing my attention. “Oh?” I answer not sure, that I want to be here now, As my heart races. “Yeah..” He manages. “I need an exclusive by tomorrow, to tidy up my reputation once again, and I was hoping you’d agree to be it, only for another few months or so, call it business agreement.” He says his voice husky and hesitant. I tip my head back gulping my whiskey and coke in preparation to whatever coming next. “I want to get married..” He says, his voice is pleading and urgent, his eyes wide with anticipation drawing me in like a puppies eyes to a child. “Uh um...what?..I don’t know..” I manage.. “1 million dollars to say yes, 6 months tops!” He says, I fidget, this was furthest from what I would of expected to be asked. “I wanted a job not a ring.” I state, fighting for air in this conversation. “I’ll give you both, for a few months is all, and then I’ll give you a enough to dictate your own future.” He pleads again, I move back to the counter, keeping my back to him, as I grab the coke, catching me movement, he pours more whiskey into the glass for me, and I add the coke. I didn’t know that man, but I could hear the desperation, he'd caught me flustered so in a moment of weakness... I decided I can accept his terms only, if he meets me halfway.
