The paper beneath me crinkles softly as I lie back on the examination bed, lifting the hem of my shirt to expose my stomach. My heart is pounding, not just from nerves, but from the surreal weight of everything that’s happened in the last 24 hours. The truth still hasn’t settled. I’m pregnant. With Theodore’s baby. Just thinking it feels impossible, like I’ve stepped into someone else’s life.
