Chapter 10The world was white—blinding, encompassing, never-ending. It broke apart in front of Adam’s enormous eyes. In its wake leaving behind an endless hall, unending in every direction. Adam, alone, lost in the center of an enormous and quiet room, devoid of people. The stillness, a presence all its own. Like an accompanying specter, it loomed beside Adam. The buzz of indiscernible static made his head fuzzy. Then, finally, his vision fixated on the image in front of him. A stark picture spread outward until the painting in front emerged—tiny, nonsensical details widened into focus. And what Adam found stopped his thudding heart dead in its tracks.
