The first year of Liam and Rachel’s marriage went by in a blur. Liam wasted no time going to work, taking on one job after the other until he had managed to set aside a substantial nest egg. By late summer, his gains allowed him to set his new bride up in a rundown but magnificent estate in upstate New York.
There, he left her for days and nights on end, pregnant and alone. And though he’d hired top-notch security to watch over her, he forbade them from interacting with her or entering the main house. Rachel had initially pressed Liam on why the guards were there. But, he was quick to remind her how vulnerable she was in such a big, expensive house in the middle of nowhere. He insisted they were there for peace of mind, nothing more.
