Elder Silvanie Memories - Family

3025 Words
It was time for dinner, I got down near Brielle was sleeping, to wake her up. “Brielle, time for dinner honey.” I saw her opening her eyes, waning, “It's time already.” “Yes, lest get back, you have to train with Elder Natasha after.” She just looked at me intensely, I could see a few colors running fast on her eyes. Then as she was getting up. “You would be an amazing mother.” I froze, while she just picked the diary, composed herself, and started walking to the exit.  “Elder Silvanie are you coming?” I woke up and saw her near the exit of the Green House and moved to her. We got to the packhouse, she went to put the book in her room, and I was still lost in her words, I looked around at everyone at the table. ‘This is our family.’ Antha remembered, ‘He was also.’ After dinner, Brielle went training and I got back to my house, usually, I stay at the packhouse, I have my room there, but these days with Brielle, memories have been invading my head, I need to get back to my house. I sit on the porch looking at the lake, drinking tea, and remembering. -----Flashback--- It has been a few weeks since Junius came, he seems more comfortable around us, he did not leave the house yet, I think I might be afraid that this is all a dream, but we still have a lot to tell him. Since Edmund and I are in the second year of courtship, we need to start preparing the wedding for his human family, I will need to get out more. And Junius can’t come with me yet. Today I took him around the pack so that he will be fine if he must come alone. The walk to the pack is by the forest, I want the guards to know who he is. “Junius, are you liking being with us?” As we walk in the forest. “Yes, it feels right.” “You know I will have to leave to help with the arrangements for the wedding with Edmund's family. I want you to get to know everyone around you. And I need to ask you something.” He looks at me a little introspective. “What do you need to ask?” It was a hard question.  “Did you meet your parents?” He responds looking down on the path. “Yes,” I was hoping it was not a bad memory for him. “Are they still alive?” He continued not looking at me but the path while he walked and responded. “Mother died when I was five, Father may still be alive, but I don’t know now.” I had to know. “Do you want to see your Father?” He stops and looks at me with sad eyes. “Can Edmund be my father?” I was looking at him, something bad must have happened for him to just jump the question like that. “Junius, don’t you want to see your father?” He looks at the ground. There is a desolated feeling coming from him. “Have I been bad?” He is thinking that we do not want him. “No, that’s…” I tried to explain. “So why do you want me to go?” I need to explain. “That is not it, I was just worried that you might miss your family.” I then look up to the sky.  “I do not have a family.” That made my heart cringe.  “My father sold me to be a slave. “Tears started flowing on his face, I came to him and hugged him. “I am so sorry, for insisting.” My heart was crying for him.  “Can’t you and Edmund be my Family?” I smiled at him and he was still so little locking up at me.  “Yes, we will be your family.” That made him calm down. “Junius, do you know what your parents are?” He answers between small sobs, “What do you mean?” I started thinking of a better way to explain, Junius did not know yet I was a werewolf.  “How to say this… did you ever see them differently?” I see him, pushing back, “I think so.” maybe remembering something. “Do you understand what it was?” He nodded no.  “Your parents and I are the same.” He took two steps back, looking at me like he could not believe me. “We are werewolves, did you ever hear of it?” He starts to think. “I remember Simon telling me that my dad told me I was a werewolf, the people on the ship told me I was human.” He was right. “Yes, you are, but your parents were not humans.” I see how he takes the information as some realization hits him. “You and Edmund are human, and you will see other humans around the village also. Most of us are werewolves, I don’t want you to be scared if by any chance you ever see one of us change.” His eyes sparkle. “Change?” How do I explain?  “We are part human and part wolf, sometimes we have to let our wolf out, to run, or fight.” His eyes wander again to the forest.  “I saw a wolf once.” He was shaking. “Do you remember when?” I picked up his hand giving him comfort and security.  “It was when my mom died, father was not feeling well. I remember him going to the door, I went after him. When I got there, I just saw a brown wolf, his back as to me, he started howling to the sky, it was a sad howl that made me sad also.”  I squeeze his hand for attention. “That was your father.” His eyes turned to me, and I could not understand what I was reading in them if fear or excitement “You can become a big wolf also?” I hesitated a bit. Sigh “Yes” He almost jumped at me.  “Can I see it?” I just stood there looking at him. ‘What is it with the men in my life that are not afraid of a big wolf and want to see it?’ Antha laughs at me. ‘I am proud that our mate and our son are not afraid of me.’ I could sense her pride but wait. ‘Our son.’ She purred at me. ‘Yes.’ I was awakened from my conversation to an excited Junius looking at me with expectation. “Wait here I must go shift. I will come as a wolf. My front legs have engravings on them so you will know it’s me and not someone else ok.” Children bounce back fast. “Ok” I went to a nearby tree that had a lot of branches, always looking back at him. Hoping he was not running away. I shift after getting my clothes off and come back as my wolf. Junius just stares in my wolf form. I am bigger than him. Suddenly, he runs to me and grabs me by my neck. My wolf purrs in delight.  “You are so soft and big.” His face was on Antha fur, so the words were muffled. ‘My name is Antha.’ He gets back looking in my eyes, then smiles. “Nice to meet you Antha. Can I play with you?” Antha sat down. ‘What do you want to play?’ He jumped. “Catch?” He had the most innocent children's eyes. ‘I love that game, but you still do not know the woods well, can we play when you are better knowing?’ His face turned sad. ‘But you can climb up on me, and I can take you on a run.’ He brightens up again. “Really?” Antha laid down and tilted her body a little to the right so that he could climb up. When a smiling Junius was on top, she got up. ‘I need you to hold my fur very strongly so that you won’t fall.’ We sense him clenching his hands on it. ‘Ready?’ “Yes.” She runs with him, not at full speed, but at a speed that she could hear him giggling, and sense him smiling. After a while, we came back to the same place, he got down. I went to shift back. “That was amazing.” His smile all over his face. “Glad you liked it.” He boomed happiness. “Can you do that again some time?” I nodded yes. “How come I heard Antha on my head, but you speak to me?” I smiled. He was a very curious child. “I can use the mind words also, but I like talking to you.” He hugs me. “I like talking to you. I also like Antha.” I pat on his head. “Let’s keep going, I want to show you around town.” We kept going, unaware that something was keeping a watch on us. I show him, the packhouse, introduced him to the Alpha and Luna at the time, we saw some kids playing but did not want to get close to them, everyone in town knew about him, and since is my home town, they knew the hope the Elders had in him, they were all nice. “Can I go to school?” we were passing by the school building in the pack for the smaller children. “Do you want to?” We stopped a little in front. “I learn only small things, I never got to go to school like the other kids.” I look at the building inside the pack lands. “If you want you can start next week, I just must talk to the teacher first, and you will need to also meet her so she can see how much you know.” He will be safe here. “Do you think it is too late to learn?”  “It’s never too late.” He just smiled.  The next few days were me going back and forth, preparing everyone that he was going to school and bringing him to know the path and meeting the teachers, alerting the patrol that he would be going to school by the forest. I told him that even in the forest he had to be careful, anything strange just run and screams, the patrol will appear. I told him how to see if a wolf is from your pack or a rogue. And every day we went running, playing so that we knew the woods. He was a fast learner, I think because he had to grow faster, but still, I could see the 10-year-old child coming back, every time he was with Antha. Time went fast, the wedding, the years, everything seemed fine, he went to school and learned how to write and read. And the years went by, we were a family, our son. He was a young boy full of life. After his 15 birthday, something changed, he started to get gloomier, I tried talking to him, but nothing. I talked to the teachers, but they all said that they did not see anyone that could have harmed him. It was the day that he was about to do his 16 birthday, I was downstairs preparing his birthday party when I first heard the screams.  My wolf almost made me shift in response, Edmund came running inside the house, and we both got upstairs, the screams kept ongoing, and it came from Junius' room, we tried to open the door but it was looked, I broke the door open, and when we got inside, she was there. Trigger Warning: The next part may contain scenes of grieve and loss that may trigger memories of sadness for someone close. Always remember that you have the right to grieve even the unborn ones, crying is a normal reaction of grieve, so is not crying. We feel the loss in diferent ways. You have the right to feel sadness in whatever way it may be. Memories will never leave us, we just have to make them the best memories we can.  “Too late my dear.” Vanishing in thin air. How did she know where he was, how? Around the body of Junius was a black glow.  He was screaming eyes open.  “No, no, no.” I got my hands to my head.  Edmund went near him. “Don’t touch him. That is the curse.” Edmund froze, and looked at me with anguish, asking with his eyes what can we do. “Get me a basin of water and something to clean him up.” Edmund just nodded and went to get the things. The door to the temple appeared and Moon Goddess Stela appeared in the room. “She was here?” I was now next to Junius's head.  “Yes, I don’t know how she found us.” A cold voice was heard. “Betrayal.” I look, never I saw her look so angry. “What can we do?” She calmed down a little bit. “Let me see if I can help him.” She got near the bed, placed her hand on the top of his head, and chanted, a light orb appeared, and she saw it was consumed by dark in seconds.  “She is in there.” I looked around. “I saw her going away.” She looked at me. “No, she is there, in his mind.” And pointed at the dark orb.  Looking I see that he starts to close his eyes, and the screams are now words, we can’t understand. “She is killing him in his dreams.” Her words here like stabs. “How is that possible?” Her eyes were consumed with sadness. “I don’t know. We never had a child live this long, how come she let him live if she knew his location?” I remember the look of victory she had. “She just said that I am too late, nothing more.” Moon Goddess Stella seems to realize something.  “She is just showing off to us. She let you get attached to him and now she is showing us that she can kill them even not being near them.” My fears grow. “What can we do, how can we stop her from killing the children in their sleep?”  “I may have. I need you to maintain the orb light glowing, chant to her my chant.” She got up from the bed and went to the door. “Where are you going?” What if he died before she comes back? “To get some help. Do now stop chanting to him.” She vanishes with the door.  Edmund arrived a few moments after with the water, he looked at the orb and me. ‘No time to explain Edmund. Just go to the other side and clean him up, he is starting to sweat a lot.’ He starts to move around to the other side of the bed. “How come you are singing?” I was trying to focus, but he needs to know.  ‘Moon Goddess told me to sing her chant to keep the light orb glowing, it seems to be protecting him.’ His eyes widened looking at me surprised. “The Moon Goddess was here? Can she help him?” I try not to think about that for the moment. ‘She said she will come back with help, but I don’t know what she means by that.’ “Maybe it would be better if I leave when she comes back.” I look at him, I don’t think a human can see her unless she wants. ‘I don’t know if you could see her, the power of a god!’ He nods. The night was terrifying, screams and words, almost at the end of the Night, Edmund left to get something for us to eat.  The door to the temple opens and I see the Moon Goddess and a Silver Wolf. “Has he awakened yet?” I nod no, “Still sleeping, trembling, screaming.” ‘Edmund, don’t come up.’ She then looked at the Silver Wolf. “This is your other half.” Her hand reaches to the front of Junius. The wolf ears perk up, it looks at the child, then at the Moon Goddess. I see her rising and eye brown at the wolf.  “I know you are not inside of him, you are here next to me.” She looks in the wolf eyes.” I need your help saving him. He is cursed that is why you are here, and he is there in that bed suffering. But the moment he dies, you die. I saw the wolf crying fear and guilt in its eyes. “I need your help not as his wolf, but as the chain that will bring him back to this world. Can you do it? Can you be his chain so he can pull him out of this nightmare that will kill him?” The wolf howl was sad. “That is the only way for you to be with him before you both die.” Another howl but this time more convinced like the wolf answered. “Now, place your front paws over the boy's ankles, be careful.” I saw the wolf sit and put the front paws on the place the Moon Goddess told. A light came from the Goddess's hands so strong that I closed my eyes. When I opened them there were no more wolf and two lights surrounded the ankles of Junius. Suddenly he screams, Moon Goddess run to the other side of the bed, and put her hands above the orb, and chant: “Unleash the power of the ancients with wolves as her soul, those parted can be reunited, save a life, to guide her to the light.” The light in the ankle started blinking and glowing, but I could only look at Junius's face, he was screaming, the face of pain, like something or somebody just stabbed him, and his heartbeat turned from fast to almost none. I put my hand on top of his chest to feel it. At my touch he opened his eyes, dark orbs no white, breathed one last time, closed them, heart stopped beating. The orb was completely black. The Moon Goddess hugs him, like that will bring him back to life. I Screamed. “No…no… no'' Moon Goddess Stella was crying.  “I am sorry Silvanie, I could not do more.” I collapsed on the floor and started crying. Edmund came running inside the room, looked at me and the boy came to my side, hugged me. “He was so young, why, why?” We both just stayed there, going back and forth on the floor, crying for ‘our son.’  The Moon goddess left through the temple door. ‘After your morn, bring him to the temple to rest next to the others.’
