I was crunching on my heart, curled in the ground of the garden stage, screaming. The intensity of the pain was too much, my mouth was dry from all the yelling, but I had to do it or the pain would increase. It felt like my heart was about to explode at any time. my heart rate was impossible. I could feel my heart in my hands like it was trying to leap out of my chest. Everyone was around me, frozen, not knowing what to do. And a little before I went all out, I heard my parents yelling, telling everybody to stay back. Elder Silvanie right behind them, telling everyone to let her get some air. I feel someone touching me, calm and relaxing, and fainted.

Everything was perfect. My mom got down the stairs with Patrice 1st, and then she went up the stage on the Main Hall, peeking up at my father along the way that was talking to Elder Silvanie. They had a preoccupied expression, but when my mother got near and whispered to his ear, he smiled and got to the stage, right beside her. Next, they introduced me as the birthday girl. My two brothers picked me up at the bottom of the stairs, one at each side, eyes full of love, and took me all the way to the stage. Here they helped me go up holding me by each arm, it was so embarrassing but perfect, it was like flying to the stage.
I notice as everyone sniffs the air looking over to me. “Yes. I’m Human.” Alphas started whispering to their Lunas, the Alpha sons just continuing staring at me. The stare contest only stopped when Elder Silvanie got on stage and congratulated me, and I said thank you with a smile on my face, next everyone said their congratulations. Father dismissed me and the young ones to the garden to continue the party, as the oldest stay indoors.
I walked with all my classmates. I was giggling and smiling at them, they are also wolves that had time to get to know me as human. The Alphas and Lunas had the same reaction everyone had when I entered the school for the 1st time. It was scary, everyone sniffing, looking, gossiping, and getting distant with me. It was almost an uproar when they found out that one of my brothers was the comity member of the student council at school, and the other one, was one of the best players of their football team.
I did not get bullied. They did not have time for that. My brothers impose their strength as Alphas on everyone to dare to even look sideways at me. After that, everyone tried to chat a little with me, but I’m not a chatty person, so I end up being kind of all over, and when I need a quiet place, Patrice always lets me hang with her.
A hot guy got near me, he was very tanned, blond hair, and green eyes. “What a contrast.” I thought. I never saw him before so maybe he was an Alpha son, from one of the packs. I cannot sense the aura that they have, I don’t know why. By observing my two brothers, I started noticing some traits that Alphas always have, the body is different, and they walk like they rule the world, and the eyes and glares are different.
He asked me to dance. I said sure, and he picked my hand and walked to the stage in the garden, right about the time Halo from Beyonce started playing. “I love this song.” We started dancing. I am not bad at it, since my mother loves to dance with dad and I always got between them when I was younger, I learn with them. My brothers walked in the living room the moment we were dancing, so they had forcibly joined by my mother. She said, “Want to get a girl at your feet, dance with her.”
After that music another came around more soft dancing, and the Alpha got me pin up against him, this song was easier to talk to.
“Where are you from?”
“The Moonlight Pack.”
I gave him a do not know look, and he said. “Our pack is near the ocean.”
“Never been to the ocean.”
He spins me around and pins me up again next to him. “Really.” I could hardly breathe, and every time I tried, a smell of pine trees and ocean, got right to my nose.
“Ok, that is all, I do not need you anymore.”
“What?”
“I was just using you to make my mate jealous. She told me I was better with a Human, so I came to get you. You are the only human in this party.”
“Say what again? Are you Kidding? Because it’s terrible bad taste.”
“Do not test my patience HUMAN. Do you really think I would be interested in you? You are low on the food scale.”
And he left, going to a redhead that was staring daggers at me. If I was not the birthday girl, and human, I am quite sure she had attacked me.
Luckily, there are laws in the Werewolf World about attacking a human. And I stood there in the middle of the dance floor, everyone around me dancing glue together, and kissing.
I heard a chant in my mind. “See the cruelty and the pain that you have caused once again. I turn the descents to bring dark to you all. I will be free, but the Bond remains broken. The pain you cause will come back to you, when the most needed cannot be mated. This curse is forever bound to your bloodline.”
I grasp my chest. It feels heavy all the sudden. I had a hard time breathing.
“Are you ok?” Patrice got near me when she saw the guy leaving.
“Yes, I think.” Breathing heavy.
“You do not seem fine.”
“I just need to sit down.”
And Patrice takes my arm, and goes with me to one of the puffs, spread across the garden. I sit on it.
“What happened there?” Vicktor came near me, he was coming to the garden to see where I was and saw the scene happening
“It seems the Alpha wanted to prove something to his mate, and used me because I am human, and can be used as they want. “
“What a Jerk.” Vicktor hissed
“Brother don’t.” I could see his eyes changing color.
“Do not let that a**hole ruin our mood. It is your birthday.” Patrice said.
“Yeah I know. Guys. Do you think I have a mate like you have?”
They stared at each other, and I saw what I think was sadness in the eyes of my brother, but he soon hides, and looking at me:
“I don’t think Humans have mates, you fall in love, you find someone with the same interest, court, and fall in love, something like that.”
“Court?? Where are we in the 16th Century?” Patrice raises a brow at Vicktor.
“What? Am a werewolf, not human.”
I laugh out loud, with these too, they have a 3year difference.
“You too could be mates. You are so much alike. “
This seems to result in a silence, where Vicktor looks everywhere else instead of us, and Patrice blushes.
And while I am looking at those two, the red hair dagger girl approaches the table with the drinks next to us. “Seems some humans don’t know their places, just because the parents are Alphas, they think they can have an Alpha for Mate.” Red girl spits at another girl next to her.
They both seem to know each other because I see the other one agreeing, and then laid her eyes on me, and looked again at her friend. “Yeah, they think they are above us, human filth.”
That tickles Vitckor, that gets near them. “Seems you ladies do not belong to this party. Maybe I can escort you all out. “The Growl in the voice did not go unnoticed, as they stagger near the table.
They sideways over the table, and a growl comes from the other side off the lawn. Currently, everyone stops dancing, and stays looking at the scene. Vicktor just glanced over, to see the Alpha which had been dancing with me coming his way. He is younger than my brother, but his eyes were changing color also.
“Keep your hands away from my mate.” Growls
“Relax pup. I dislike women with no brains.” Chuckles
“Do not disrespect my mate.” Growls
“Do not disrespect my sister at her birthday party. If they do not want to be near a human, they can and will leave.” Intense Growl
“That human is nothing compared to us. You cannot put her at the same level.”
Another Growl comes from the entrance that leads to the Main Hall. My other brother was joining the party also.
Seeing he was being looked at by two Alphas, he backed away, but not before giving me a glare that my brother caught up on. He moves one step further to go at the Alpha.
I once again heard the chant in my head: “ See the cruelty and the pain that you have caused once again. I turn the descents to bring dark to you all. I will be free, but the Bond remains broken. The pain you cause will come back to you, when the most needed cannot be mated. This curse is forever bound to your bloodline.”
I held on to my brother shirt sleeves with one hand, and the other was at my chest. My breathing was heavy again. That made him snap at his wolf, and soon enough I had two big walls towering me, seeing if I was ok.
“Water.” I muttered. Patrice then went to the nearby table and got me a cup of water, that I gulped it up all in once.
“Told you, that you do not appear to be fine.”
“I am ok, just lack of air.”
Vicktor and Chadrick had a mist of fear, agony, and something I cannot explain in the eyes.
“I am fine guys really. When do we cut the cake?”
“OHH, that was what I was supposed to do.” Chadrick hisses.
He then turns it back on me and I hear. “Everyone except the birthday girl goes back inside, time for cake.” And we see everyone moving inside the house again.
“Why can’t I come also?”
“No. You will stay here on the stage and wait.”
“But!”
“No but. Father orders.”
They got me back up, and put me on center stage, and take Patrice with them near the doors that are now closed.
Then I start hearing Happy Birthday to You, as my brothers open the doors and a giant cake comes between them with my father and mother at one side, Elder Silvanie on the other side, and everyone comes behind them in a circle around me singing. But as the music goes by, it starts distorting in my ears.
I start seeing them double, and then I hear again: “See the cruelty and the pain that you have caused once again. I turn the descents to bring dark to you all. I will be free, but the Bond remains broken. The pain you cause will come back to you, when the most needed cannot be mated. This curse is forever bound to your bloodline.”
I go down on my knees, holding my chest tight. The pain and the screams start.
