After Aurora left, Phineas went to his bedroom.
He took the cufflinks out of the box and stood in front of the mirror. He put them on. He looked at them for a long time - the deep navy against the white of his cuffs, the small weight of them at his wrists.
Then he picked up his phone and took a photo. He posted it to i********: without overthinking it. The caption was three words: *Tonight's gift.*
