LEAH The men trying to hold us captives scrambled off to check on their partners, blown away by my scream. That was something so strange to ponder on, yet I couldn't, not while we were still in danger. Their absence was like a crack in the dam, an opportunity to run off, and adrenaline flooded my veins. "We have to go now!" I hissed, spinning toward Tamara. She was still crumpled on the floor, trembling and pale, her breath coming in sharp little gasps. Blood trickled down from the bash cut on her head, leaving a thin red trail that made my stomach lurch. I dropped to my knees beside her, my hands already gripping hers to pull her up.
