CHAPTER THREE

Alexia stylishly pushed Bryan away and wanted to walk to Duncan but Bryan held her right hand, dragging her back.

'Who's he? And why does he sound so authoritative?" Bryan asked with a cold look on his face and Duncan scoffed. His eyes went to their locked hands again and he bit his lower lip.

"I'm warning you this instant to let go of her hand or you wouldn't like what would happen next?" Duncan warned. His eyes were already red with anger and Alexia knew that he was serious this time.

She was about to talk but Bryan beat her to it.

"And what if I don't? What are you gonna do?" Bryan asked.

"I'm asking you to let go of my wife's hand this instant!" Duncan warned again and Bryan threw Alexia a surprised look.

Alexia immediately fred her hand from his.

"You are married.." He whispered.

"We will talk later.." Alexia said and immediately ran to Duncan who was still glaring at Bryan.

"Let's go!" Alexia said and dragged him inside leaving Bryan out there.

Bryan was still frozen in shock.

"She's married.." He muttered and then looked at the restaurant. A tear dropped out of his left eye and he wiped it off.

In a dark room sat three men whose faces can't be seen. One of them was smoking, smoke filled the entire room.

"That bastard Duncan finally admitted he had a wife.." The first man said and the others chuckled.

"He did a great job in really hiding it tho' The second said.

"Finally, we have something on that bastard. He dealt with us badly and now is the time to show him what we are capable of.." The first man smirked and the others nodded in agreement.

"First we need to find out who his wife is? We've wondered all this time what was his weakness and we finally found it. We can't let this go.." The third one said.

"We will definitely find out who his wife is and use her against him.." The first one said and then brought out his phone. He placed a call to someone and the person answered at the first beep.

"Yes boss.."

"I'm sure you've seen the news. Duncan has a wife.." The first man said.

"Yes boss.."

"Find out who his wife his?" The first one said.

"Your wish is my command boss.."

He hung up and then smirked.

"Duncan, your downfall is near.."

ALEXIA'S BEST DISHES RESTAURANT

'Who the hell is that guy and why were you hugging him?!" Duncan yelled angrily. Jealously was written all over his face.

They were presently in Alexia's office.

"I don't think that should be any of your concern. We are getting divorced soon, remember?" Alexa said and scoffed.

"Well, I'm still your husband Alexia and you have to explain to me why you were hugging a random guy? Is that why you wanted divorce? To be with him?!" He yelled again and Alexia slapped him hard on his right cheek.

Duncan moved backwards. Guilt written on his face already. He regretted saying it.

"Do you think I'm like you? You sleep with random girls and come home to me Duncan but I would never be like you. I have self respect and I'm still married to you so I would never cheat on you!" She yelled.

Duncan sighed.

"I'm sorry heartbeat. I never meant anything I said and I promise i never for once cheated on you. I'll rather die than do that!" Duncan stated firmly.

'I don't care about that! When are you signing the divorce papers?' Alexia asked.

"Are we on this again? I thought I did you wanted. I told everyone I'm married.."

"But you didn't reveal that you are married to me. Are you that ashamed of me?!" Alexia yelled and Duncan held her shoulders.

"I'm never ashamed of you nor our relationship but I just can't reveal it for your sake. Please understand..' Duncan said.

"Understand what? Duncan, I'm your wife, I need to know everything about you. How can I understand when you are keeping things from me?!"

"Heartbeat, I'm sorry but I have to do this because of you. I can't afford losing you.." Duncan explained but Alexia only got confused the more.

"What?!"

"And for the divorce papers, I got rid of them.." Duncan said and just then Alexia felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.

She shrieked immediately in pain.

'Are you okay? Heartbeat, what's wrong?" He asked but she immediately stood up straight.

"I'm fine.." She said.

"But this is the is the second time. This is happening. You need to see the doctor.." He said and brought out his phone to make a call but her voice stopped it.

"It's my period. I keep having menstrual cramps that's why.." Alexia told a quick lie and Duncan sighed. He took his right hand to her hair and stroked it.

He was about to say something when his phone rang. It was Dan calling ,he was sure it's something important and he wouldn't want to take it in front of his wife.

Duncan gave her a quick kiss on her lips.

"I'll be back heartbeat.." He said and then walked out. Alexia sighed immediately he walked out. She immediately grabbed her bag and then brought out the pill the doctor prescribed for her.

She took it out two tablets and then swallowed it, then she drank some water afterwards.

Just then her mind went to Bryan and unconsciously she smiled. The door opened and Stella walked in.

"Babe, are you alright?" She asked and Alexia nodded.

"Were you able to settle things with Duncan?" Stella asked and Alexia sighed.

"He just asked me to be understanding and I don't understand him.." Alexia said and sat.

"But what about that handsome guy? Who's he?" Stella asked curiously and Alexia smiled.

"He's my high school friend.." She said and Stella furrowed her brows.

"And my ex.." She added and Stella's eyes widened.

"What?!" Stella exclaimed.

Bryan halted the car and then came out of it. He looked at the mansion and then sighed before walking into it. As soon as he walked in, he met his mum in the living room polishing her nails and chewing a bubble gum like a prostitute.

He didn't even bother to greet her and as he was about climbing the stairs. Her voice stopped him.

"Bryan, you didn't even say hi to your mum.."

Bryan scoffed and turned to look at her.

"Why? Are you affected now? You have never cared about me before so What's with your fake concern?" He asked coldly and Mirabeth sighed.

"My son, you know I love.."

"Don't you ever claim to love me!" Bryan interrupted her harshly.

"You ruined life! You ruined me and took my happiness from me!" He yelled again.

"Are you still thinking of that girl? Your ex? You wouldn't forgive me because of her!" Mirabeth scoffed.

"It's been ten years Bryan. Ten good years, you are almost getting to your thirties and you still won't forget about her! There are other girls out there! Who knows if she had moved on?" Mirabeth said and Bryan recalled when Duncan called Alexia his wife.

He clenched his fists tightly wanting to punch someone badly.

"JUST SHUT THE HELL UP!" He yelled at his mum and rushed into his room. He kicked the door to his room open and it came into view. The room was the definition of beautiful and well designed.

Several pictures of young Alexia was pasted on the wall. Even the pictures they took together, the pictures of their first date and everything.

Duncan's words rang in his head.

"I'm asking you to let go of my wife's hand this instant!"

He ran his hands into his hair and crashed on the ground. Tears of regret rushing down his eyes.

"She's married. She got married!" He cried looking at the pictures.

"But she promised me.."

"She promised to wait for me. I never gave up on her and now, she got married.." Bryan said painfully. He stood up and kicked the flower vase lying on the table. It fell to the ground and shattered immediately.

It all began when they were in high school He and Alexa met in high school. Alexia was an Orphan who lived with her aunt, sge got transferred to the school because she was extremely brillant and that got a scholarship while Bryan came from a wealthy family. He was known to be proud and arrogant but all that changed when Alexia got transferred to his school.

They were literally enemies because Alexia didn't give a damn to his s**t. She always called him out when he was wrong and that was what made him interested in her. She was unique and different from the other girls who always wanted to please him. He came to fall in love with her because she was real and she changed him.

Eventually, they became friends which parents didn't agree to, especially his mum.He confessed to her at their last prom night. Though she was scared, she reciprocated his love and they became couples much to his parents anger. They believed Alexia would ruin their reputation which they worked hard to build.

Not minding, they were still strong couples and their love knew no bound until their third year in college. Everything became a mess.

Bryan's parents made a decision that changed his life. His tickets had been arranged for his flight to Canada where he would be studying. It was an impromptu act so he didn't have any chance to see her, he only informed her by text, she replied him that she would wait for him and that was it.

His phone was snatched by his parents and they lost contact.That was the last time he saw her again. When he returned two years ago, he searched for her frantically but he couldn't find her. There was no trace of her, he then gave up.

Bryan looked at the pictures again before breaking into more tears.

Night.

Duncan came down from the car, looking around as he did. He was dressed in a big black hoodie and black Jean trousers and he wore a mask and face cap.

He walked into the house and started hearing noises as he did. He smirked and then opened the door then he walked in.

Immediately the chatterings and laughter stopped. There were different men and women dressed in black. Immediately Duncan walked in, they stood up, their faces written in shock.

"Boss.." They chorused with their heads bowed. Duncan smirked again and removed his face cap.

"Duncan.." He heard another voice call him from behind. He turned and a middle aged man with a walking stick was standing behind him. In his right hand was a cigarette and smoke was brewing from it.

"Godfather.." Duncan said and the man waved his stick, immediately he did that, all the mobsters ran out of the room so they were the only ones left.

Godfather then raised his hand and gave him a tight slap across his right cheek shocking Duncan to the core.

Duncan clenched his fists tightly and then looked up in gritted teeth.

"What was that for, godfather?" He asked and Godfather smirked.

"You were stupid enough to reveal the fact that you are married. You are breaking the rules of this organisation Duncan! I'm only tolerating you cause you are my son!" Godfather yelled at him but Duncan said nothing.

"Are you forgetting why you joined us in the first place? Don't make regret my decisions Duncan? You are the leader of this group so act like one.."

"I've never for once forgotten why I joined this group. I was at my lowest but this group gave me shelter, I would never forget and I'm going to take revenge on them no matter what.." Duncan said with a determined look on his face.

"But that doesn't give you the right to hit me godfather!" Duncan said boldly.

WINTHROP'S MANSION.

MASTER'S BEDROOM.

Alexia was already in her night robe preparing to sleep but another part of her was waiting for her husband. She hoped he would come home this night.

Alexia sighed and checked her phone. It was already past 11pm. It was obvious he wasn't going to come home. She just put her hopes high only for it to get crashed.

She stood up to get some water in the kitchen and just then her phone rang. She furrowed her brows and turned back.

"Who is calling me at this ungodly hour?" Alexia said and that was when she noticed that it was her other phone, her official phone in which she uses for the restaurant dealings.

Alexia picked the phone up and scoffed.

"Who exactly wants to make a deal with me at this hour? Didn't I write it on the website that I work from 8am to 7PM. So what's this?" Alexia asked herself. She wanted to drop the phone but then she decided to answer it just for the sake of it.

"Hello, may I ask who is this?" She said immediately she answered the call.

The person was silent and nothing was heard from the other line.

"What's happening?" She asked herself again.

"Please who is this and why are you calling me at this late hour?!" Alexia snapped at the caller.

"Hi Alexia.."

"It's me, Bryan.." He said and Alexia's eyes widened. Her throat went dry immediately.

"W...What?" She stuttered in shock.
