Chapter 8

As Xorax disappeared into the shadows, Vraxxis and Kaelos closed in around Ravenna, their eyes gleaming with intent as they dragged Ravenna deeper into the pit, the air growing thicker with the stench of burning flesh and sulfur. The walls seemed to close in around her, the darkness punctuated only by the flickering glow of embers. As they descended, the cries and screams grew louder, a cacophony of suffering that seemed to come from all directions. Ravenna's ears rang with the anguish, her heart pounding in her chest. The ground beneath her feet grew hotter, the embers crunching beneath her feet like bones. She stumbled, her vision blurring as the heat washed over her. Vraxxis and Kaelos laughed, their voices echoing off the walls as they dragged her closer to the heart of the pit. The flames grew higher, the heat intensifying until Ravenna felt like her skin was burning. Suddenly, they stopped at the edge of the vast, burning lake. The flames danced across the surface, casting shadows on the walls. Ravenna's eyes widened as she saw humans like her trapped in the flames, their bodies contorted in agony as they burned. Vraxxis and Kaelos threw Ravenna to the ground, her skin searing against the hot embers. She screamed. As she looked up, she saw Vraxxis and Kaelos standing over her, their eyes blazing with malevolent intent. "You'll join them soon enough," Vraxxis sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "If our master, Azazel, gives the order, you'll be thrown into the fire, where you'll burn for eternity." Kaelos chuckled with sadistic pleasure."You'll be trapped in this flames, your soul tormented for all eternity." "I'll never let that happen," Ravenna spat, her voice venomous. "I'll find a way out of here, no matter what it takes." Vraxyis and Kaelos laughed, their voices echoing off the walls of the pit. "We'll see about that," Vraxyis sneered. "But for now, you'll just have to wait and see what our master decides." And with that, they turned and disappeared into the shadows. Ravenna stumbled away from the burning fire, her skin scorched and her lungs burning from the intense heat. She couldn't take it anymore. The flames seemed to be licking at her skin. She staggered through the darkness, her eyes streaming with tears from the smoke and heat. Finally, she saw a corner of the pit that seemed far enough away from the flames, and she stumbled towards it. As she reached the corner, Ravenna collapsed against the cold stone wall, gasping for air. She slid down the wall, her body trembling with exhaustion and fear. For a moment, she just sat there, her eyes closed, trying to catch her breath. The heat was still intense, but it was bearable here, away from the direct flames. Time lost all meaning as Ravenna lay there, her mind shattered. Minutes ticked by like seconds, each one an eternity of suffering. Ravenna's thoughts wondered back to the human world and how Miranda was coping after her attempt, of taking her life. Ravenna's eyes filled with tears as she thought about the pain she must have caused Miranda. Her heart aching with regret, knowing that she might never see Miranda again. At that moment, she suddenly remembered the Queen of the Underworld's words: "Seduce the Devil, Azazel, within 200 days, make him fall in love with you and get a chance of redemption and to be reborn or suffer the consequences." Ravenna's heart sank as she realized she had lost track of time. There was no day or night in the underworld, no sun or moon to mark the passage of time. She had no idea how many days had already passed. Seduce the Devil? It seemed impossible, especially now that she was trapped in the pit. She remembered the Queen's words: "Everyone has the power to corrupt and soften even the darkest of hearts." She had no idea how many days had already passed. Or was it already too late? What chances did she a mere mortal have? "she thought within herself." The countdown continued, unnoticed by Ravenna as she lay trapped in the depths of the pit... Ravenna's thoughts lingered on Lilith, as she wondered if she was okay. ********************************************, Days passed;..... Azazel sat on his throne, his piercing eyes gleaming. Xorax stood outside Azazel's chambers, his hand hesitating for a moment before he knocked on the door. "Come in ." "Xorax," Azazel said, his voice dripping with amusement. "I've been expecting you. Come, tell me what brings you to my chambers today." Xorax approached Azazel, his movements deliberate. "My lord," Xorax said, his voice low and even. "I came to speak with you about the mortal, Ravenna. She's been in the pit for some time now, and I was wondering if perhaps it's time to... reevaluate her situation." Azazel's expression remained neutral,"Go on," he said, his voice dripping with curiosity. Xorax hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "Well, my lord, I was thinking that perhaps Ravenna could be... useful to you. As a slave, perhaps, or even as a... plaything." Azazel's expression changed, his eyes flashing with excitement. "I like the way you think, Xorax," he said, his voice dripping with amusement. "Xorax, I want you to bring Ravenna out of the pit. Xorax's expression remained neutral, his eyes flicking briefly to the floor before returning to Azazel's face. "Yes, my lord," he said, his voice even and obedient. Azazel nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "See to it, Xorax. I want her brought before me immediately." Xorax bowed his head, With a silent nod, Xorax turned and left Azazel's presence. On reaching there, he was welcomed again by Vraxxis and Kaelos, who in turn asked what he needed and why he came there. The master has requested that Ravenna be released. "Xorax said." As the demon's paved way for him to go through. As he reached the bottom, Xorax saw Ravenna huddled in the corner, her eyes barely cracked open. Her skin was deathly pale, her cheeks sunken, and her lips dry and cracked. She looked like she was on the verge of collapse. Ravenna's eyes fluttered open as Xorax approached, but they were dull and unfocused. She tried to speak, but her voice was barely a whisper. Xorax could see how weak she was, the hunger and thirst that had been building up for days. He reached out and gently lifted Ravenna into his arms. She was limp and felt lifeless, unable to even stand on her own two feet. Xorax cradled her against his chest, her head lolling weakly against his shoulder. He turned and began to make his way back up to Azazel's presence, Ravenna's fragile form clutched tightly in his arms. She didn't stir or struggle, simply lay there, her eyes closed and her chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. As Xorax entered Azazel's chambers, Azazel looked up from his throne. Xorax bowed his head. Azazel's eyes gleamed. "Bring her closer," he said, his voice dripping with anticipation. "I want to take a closer look." "she's starved Master!", "Xorax said." "My lord, if I may be so bold, Ravenna is in dire need of sustenance. She has been without food or water for many days and is on the brink of collapse." Azazel's nodded slightly, his eyes never leaving Ravenna's face. "Very well, Xorax," he said. "See to it that she is given food and water. I want her restored to full health... for now." Xorax bowed his head, "Thank you, my lord," he said, his voice sincere. "I will see to it immediately."
