CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN: KARA

1463 Words

I can’t register anything around me. Can’t move. Can speak or do anything at all except listen. It’s been that way for a while now. I know that, because this isn’t the first time I’ve regained consciousness without being able to open my eyes. I’ve lost count of how many times it’s happened. The last one had felt like a dream, but it could’ve been real. Asides the beeping sounds, I was able to make out a deep muffle that sounded a whole lot like Roman’s. “I told you no f*****g visitors except for me,” he’d said. And I wanted to call out to him, to yell for him and ask him to help me, but I had drifted off again. Now, I’m awake again, and this time, when I try to open my eyes, it works. They flutter open slowly, trying to adjust to the lights even though I’m pretty sure they’re dim.
