One single photo. That’s all it takes to cause my chest to tighten painfully and my throat to f*****g clog up. Just one photo. And it’s from tía Antonia. It comes in while I’m sipping the cup of coffee my assistant made and sending some emails on my computer. The screen of my phone lights up, and there she is. Carmen. And she’s smiling. A full smile, not just a polite twitch of the lips. Her teeth are showing, her beautiful cheeks rounded out.
