FIFTEEN: WHEN FIRE ANSWERS

His name came out strained and unsteady. But he was already there. He didn’t ask how bad it was. And didn’t hesitate. He was beside her in an instant, already reading the signs she didn’t understand yet. “What is it?” “I don’t..” The heat surged through her body once more, more intense than before, causing her voice to falter. It ripped through her chest, coursing down her arms and into her hands. She inhaled sharply, her back arching slightly as the energy throbbed just beneath her skin. This force wasn’t an external threat; it was a part of her, awakening from a deep slumber. “Something’s happening,” she whispered. There was fear in her voices now. Bright crouched beside her, every muscle in his body tight with contained tension "Control it.” Her hands trembled, fingers curling as the heat built higher. “I don’t know how..." “Then figure it out.” Bright said. The words were harsh. But his tone didn’t waver. Didn't cracked. And that kept her from breaking. Because he wasn’t afraid. Or at least, he wasn’t letting her see it. “Focus,” he said, lower now. “Breathe." Her chest rose sharply. Air came too fast, too shallow. The heat spiked in response. “No, slower.” His hand hovered near her shoulder. Not touching. Like he was holding himself back. Letting her do this. "Feel it,” he continued. “Don’t fight it.” Her eyes were tightly shut, an instinctive reaction to push the sensation away and suppress it. Yet, that only intensified the feeling. So, she decided to stop fighting it, if only for a brief moment, allowing herself to acknowledge its presence. The heat began to shift, becoming less chaotic. It remained intense but transformed from a force that tore through her to one that flowed alongside her. With this change, her breathing gradually steadied. As she breathed in and out, the tightness in her chest began to dissipate. Suddenly, her vision ignited with a flash of gold, dazzling and overwhelming, followed by the emergence of flames. They danced along her fingertips, not bursting forth in chaos, but rather flickering gently, contained and alive. Just… there. Ember’s eyes snapped open. She stared at her hands. The fire dancing between her fingers. It didn’t hurt. It didn’t burn her, as if it was cooperating to her like a humble spirit who can feel what she wanted. “I..” Her voice barely formed the word. “What are you doing?” Bright said quietly. Something that almost sounded like relief. Her gaze lifted to his. And for a moment, everything else fell away, the mountain whom she belongs to, the danger, the mark and those unknown monster that hunting her. None of it mattered. It was just this. Just Alpha Bright who always there to keep her safe. “Why you didn’t run,” she asked. Bright facial expression shifted into darker, he wanted to guard her as long as he was alive in this world. “I don’t run from things that matter to me..” The words were quiet. But they carried more weight than anything he’d said before. Because this time, he didn’t deflect. Didn’t avoid it. Didn’t turn it into something else. He meant it. And Princess Ember knew it. The fire in her hands flickered slightly, responding to that.. to the shift between them. Ember swallowed, her pulse quickening for a completely different reason now. Because this, this wasn’t just about power anymore. It wasn’t just about survival. It was about what she meant to him. And what that meant for both of them. Because now, she knew, that she was the only one mattered.. "If that so.. then kiss me." Ember suddenly say it without thinking. There was no hesitation. She was confident that Bright was probably the one destined for her. Not only did she feel it but she knew in herself that Bright was the one who saved her, not as a hero, a healer but to keep her alive for this second chance of life. "You already burning of my love" Bright said. "Then if you love, you must embrace the fire within me" Her words was something he wouldn’t walk away from. And that realization, settled deeper than the pain they ever had. Because power could be controlled. Enemies could be fought. But this, this connection, this pull between them, was something else entirely. Bright's palms landed on Ember's face first, but his skin didn't burn, no pain or hurt marred his true feelings. While Princess Ember closed her eyes as if awaiting her burning love, anticipating Bright's lips to touch hers. First their bodies touched, followed by their lips, which seemed thirsty for trust and love. If the breeze is cold, the bodies of the two lovers are enveloped in warmth, Ember slightly opens her legs to give space for Bright to enter her.
